RNY board
Hey--Did you guys know there is an RNY board? http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/RNY/posts.html
Lynda,
It's like a mirage though.
I don't see it under "Interests"
And Not there under Surgery Type Forums,
Not under "Member Interest Forums" J - R
Even though RN is listed there.
And it's not under "Other Forums."
It's like Brigadoon!
Any directions on how to get there other than this link?
Best Wishes-
Dx
Well--that is a puzzle. Somebody on the main board posted asking how to get there, and Sherry replied there wan't one. Then the person replied back that yes there was, as she had been there. Then our old buddy--Lap Band Richard, came up and posted the link. It's funny because he used to say ther should be a board dedicated to RNYers. After you asked this question I tried to find it without the link and you are right--a mirage.
So, the new RNY board's an "Easter egg."
Gotta give R. props for finding it though, dang . . . though it IS a little like following Chicken Little (you'll DIE! you'll DIE!) up into the sky.
I love Dx's Brigadoon comment, lololol. Reminded me of the reference to Brigadoon in "Four Weddings and a Funeral," ~~ "Look!! It's bloody 'Brigadoon'!"
Recall the definition that OH provides when one clicks the checkbox for a post being urgent. How many things occured yesterday that you could identify as being urgent? A great many things might be categorized as being important, but were they truly urgent? Urgency bears a time-senstitive component on top of importance. One of the marks of successful people is their ability to separate the urgent from the merely important. People posting at OH use 'urgent' quite often to say "Pay attention to me". Quite often the importance is simply their need for attention, which is usually an ongoing attribute and not one that is time-senstive. One is left to separate the truly urgent from those simply marked as such. By its overuse, the readership is desensitized and quickly learns to simply ignore most urgent posts. That hurts those whose needs are truly important and time-senstive.

We actually need an Urgent Section, with a 1:x subfolders: Urgent Recipes, Urgent "What happened on American Idol", Urgent "Who Shot JR?", Urgent Urges, etc. This would allow people to drill down to find their own ambient level of hysteria. On the Main Board, the flagged items that stay at the head of the board are often flagged as being urgent. If its been there for days, exactly how urgent is the post? Its already positioned where its not going to get lost, why hype as being urgent.
At some point, too much granularity is just too much. The recent proliferation of specialty boards is getting out of hand.
