what is up with with main board
I see, and respect, your and Willow's views. As a 20 month post-op, I know that I am still learning AND always will be learning new things about all of this. I think that some of the frustration from the other viewpoint is that advice is asked for and information (as each of us believe it to be ) is, not so much ignored as it is, *sometimes* flung back into their faces, whether via private e-mail, board reply, etc. I am not saying all, because we are all individuals (not categories), but *many* pre-ops and new post-ops want to be validated and 'backed-up' for their decisions/choices by others more than they actually want truly heart-felt advice that their decisions/choices have better options than what they actually want to do. I am sure that you have seen those posts, as well. JMHO
Respectfully,

I absolutely understand where you're coming from and what you're saying.
People who have WLS are no different than others..people from all walks of life for all sorts of reasons, need to be validated. Whether it be for food choices, a new photo on the board, someone asking for romantic advice..it's all the same.
Don't we all want to be validated and "backed-up" to some degree? I dont think they should be coddled, and breaking a food addiction is to me, harder than breaking any other addiction..as 3 week postop, do you really think that someone can just cut that tie and never even entertain the thought of another cookie? I'm almost 6 years out and I do it all the time..sometimes I even give in! Does it make me a failure? No..it makes me human..it doesnt mean I wont keep being succesful..success for most of us doesnt lie in a protein shake or a power crunch bar, or 2 quarts of crystal lite a day..sucess comes from within.
My whole point is, in our everday lives we encounter people who "throw back our kindess in our faces"..at the grocery store, the bank, our chldrens schools, everywhere..sometimes you just cant be nice..but does that mean that we shouldnt keep trying?
On the MB, all you hear is, if you dont like it, skip over it. Well then the people who have issue with the newbies should simply skip over it and dont go there.
We all know what is over there..so going over there and getting worked up is our own faults..the people who dont like it..have themselves to blame..dont read it *lol*
Good points!
Being that I am far from perfect, I do understand where many of them are coming from...but, it also worries me about them when *some* ask for advice...sound advice is given (I even had someone call me a *itch for referring them back to their surgeon for a medical question) and ignored, or worse yet, attcked. I dunno...like I have said, this is not a perfect world.

Oh can I have a piece? *lol* I've been wanting to bake one, but just haven't gotten around to it.
I did go to Hallmark this weekend though and got some wonderful Yankee Candles, so I burned the Pumpkin Pie one last night, the whole house smelled wonderful. Today, I need to grocery shop so I might just pick up some pumpkin pie goodies! Thanks for the idea

Funny you say that, my husband went to work with Banana Bread today My kids are more the chip/pretzel types so my DH is the one I bake for.
I'm busily searching online for some really great Pumpkin Carving Designs, I think i'll do that this afternoon while the kids are doing homework. I know my daughter will help but i'm not sure my boys will want to
I definitely must bake now, i'm in that mood!
thanks a LOT Sherry
Yep...it sure was. It was so good, too (I DID manage not to put whipped cream on top, though )...too bad I'm paying for it by dumping like a Tonka truck now.
Do I want some? Yes...wouldn't be prudent, though...I've lost ALL sense of control since my pregnancy nausea resolved itself. Your Hubby will just have to enjoy it for me, too.

Oh but Sherry, isnt that WHY we have babies?!?!
Seriously, I have three and that is the time where I could just enjoy..I didnt gain a lot with my kids, that came later on..but you will do great! You'll have us to help, some of us will kick you..and some will hug you ;) *lol*
And you know..cool whip is low calorie and low sugar and low carb! I keep it in the freezer for when I want a spoon or two of something *sweet*. It always satisfies!
I dump too, I find that if I lay my head down for a few minutes, it helps, so go rest silly!
I'll just have to eat the pie *lol*..kidding!
I'm actually eating Macadamia nuts..they are so good!
