Hey gang, Sorry I have been away for a while. Very pre-occupied, food not going so well etc. I am tentatively looking at Nov. 15 for my hernia repair/TT. The hernia was approved by insurance but I will have to pay for my TT. I am anxious and excited. Just want it done and over with so I can recover. Feeling guilty about asking for the time off from work. Worried about how I will recover and if I will need someone to stay with me. I live alone. Missing a lady friend that passed away who took care of me during my r-n-y recovery. She would be rooting for me. Anyway thats where I am at... catch ya later. Lucy

Lucy, the TT is not as bad as you might think. Within two weeks you should be doing just fine. One thing I recommend is renting a recliner if you do not have one (I did, it was pretty cheap for one month). It makes it easier to sleep. They will ask you to sleep semi-sitting, so the recliner is wonderful. They also ask you to walk hunched over, and that is not because you cannot straighten up, they just don't want you to for a few weeks because it stretches the work they just performed. I also religiously wore my compression garment, which actually made me feel good. It was not real tough surgery for me, but then everyone is different. Don't be scared, you will do fine, and will be up and around with your young tight/athletic tummy in no time. Missy

Hey Lucy --- I've wondered where you were and how you're doing. I hope your TT / hernia repair works out well and makes you feel like a million bucks (after the initial recovery time is finished). And I hope you get past the feeling guilty for needing time off to take care of yourself! You're worth it! DD

Thanks ladies for the words of encouragement. I know it will be ok. After my gastric bypass I probably could have gone back to work after two weeks but took four. I had a much more sedentary job though then. Now I am on my feet and shuffling books at a library. But they will take it easy on me I am sure. I keeping messing with the same 4-6 pounds lately. Up and down.... This morning I am up 3 from my low of 157. It would be good if I could lose a few before the tt. He estimates taking 10 off with the surgery.... so if I could lose 10 before and ten after that would put me at 5ft 2 and 130pds but at this point I am happy where I am at. Just don't want to deflate my newly tightened tummy. I feel like this tt surgery is like a sense of closure on this whole experience and yet I know food and I will continue to battle my whole life. That ticks me off but I guess it is a small cross to bear compared to some. Bye for now-- Lucy

Hi! I wanted to say you had your rny exactly 1 year after me. I had the hernia repair about 1 year post op. I had been sitting at the same weight for a while and after the hernia repair I started dropping again. I lost a good 15 pounds in the months following with out consiously doing anything differnt. and more importantly, it stayed off. had my tt a year later. Yes it hurt ( it was actually a belt lipectomy w/ muscle repair) but with the onQ pain pump it was very manageable. Any surgery in the future I will insist on it. It continuously dribbles numbing medicine into the incision and really helps a LOT. lasts for about 4 days. I had my belt lip. outpatient, went home the same day, was able to do stairs and sleep in my own bed right away. when I went to the dr 4 days later the dr pulled out the pump ( did not hurt in any way) and I was fine. I did use some pain meds, but not mnarly as much as if I hadn't had the pain pump. Having the belt lipectomy did more for how I feel about my body than losing 130 pounds did.

Hi Lucy! I too have been away for awhile. Been staying on track except for the weekend. But doing better again. Glad to see you posting again. Keep posting Lucy, even when your not feeling like your at your best. I know your anxious about your up coming surgeries and that's normal. You need to think more about your needs than your job. It will be there when you get back to it. I'm sure they are understanding. May I suggest that you up your protein to aid in the healing process. When I had my Lower Body Lift and Breast Lift/Augmentation last Oct. I dropped 5lbs just before my surgery by upping my protein. Do everything the doctor tells you. They know what they are talking about and the risks are real. Rest, rest, rest!!!! I suggest you go to TuckThatTummy.com. They have tons of info that will help prepare you preop and postop. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Email me if you need anything. Jeannie
