Houston OH Event in November Anyone?

I am considering going to the OH event in Houston, despite the fact that it is nowhere near my region (Ohio). Anyone ever attended an OH event? Anyone plan to attend this event? Anyone know of future locations for OH events? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Insight appreciated. Karen

Karen, I went to one in Arlington, Texas, in May of last year. I really enjoyed meeting people that I had "seen" online. I'll be going to Houston in November for sure. It won't just be Texans. But we Texans sure are fun..... Hope to see you there. Connie -147# @ goal

Hello Karen - Ive never been to ANY so I prolly' have no business tossing out any input, but Im going to anyway. OH throws two types of conferences - National and Regional. They were planning one here in VABeach (Regional) for November. Quite a few of us from the VABoard had plans to go and then it got cancelled. Since it was "local" I woulda' invested the money to show up - if it was a REGIONAL event that I would have had to fly to or pay big ol' GAS pmts to drive to, I would NOT bother. Ive been on the boards for several years and tend to nose around on quite a few of the State Forums, since my buddies have all moved on from the Main Board. Those that have attended Regional events have MIXED reviews. It really depends on how well it was advertised by OH and how many people it draws. If you can get a big crowd in attendance and VENDORS who'll actually show up - it can be fun. If it were ME trying to decide if I should attend an event that wasnt local - I think Id wait for the NATIONAL OH Conventions. They have two of those a year, a few months ago it was in New Jersey (I think) and the next one, planned for Decmeber is going to be in California. The photos and the feedback from the CALI one (last year) was absolutely awesome. It seems like that was a complete success. The photos and the feedback from the New Jersey was mixed - not a very big turn out, or at least not nearly what they (OH) expected. LOL - hows this for a wordy mofo'n reply for someone who's NEVER even attended one? BTW - one thing that would probably make the TEXAS (Regional) event a success is that it has a large and active following on the Texas Board - so there should be a pretty big turn out. Well, that and there are some FANTASTIC peeps in Texsas (yep, Im biased and have a lotta friends there). - Lei (sorry, not even gonna proof read anything I type today)

Good morning beautiful!!!!!!!!!! OH is already in the planning stages (getting speakers and etc) for a NATIONAL event here in lexington, Ky for 2006. You are close enough to drive up. I only live about thirty miles away but would stay in town and share a room with any out of towners(that I like, LOL). it is going to be great.

Are you holding out for someone you like better? hmmmm? Too cool - you're right, 'Tucky is not a very far drive - er, I drove through it on my way to Oklahoma - good gawd almighty, Im gonna kick myself senseless if you tell me I was any where near where you live and missed the opportunity to see you!!!! When's the 2006 convention gonna be? Do you know? If you don't want to keep replying (er, hijacking I guess is the PC term?) then toss you answer into my NECKLIFT thread. Silly girl!!!!!!!!!! You are the VERY one I was implying I WOULD room with. I am a loner by choice so it would have to be someone REALLY special, like you, my dear, for me to share a room. I am betting we wouldn't be in the room that much. I cannot remember when for sure but I think brenda Goldsmith (event coordinator for OH) said Summer, 2006. She asked me to have my surgeons office get in touch with her and they have already had a few meetings about it. Remember, it is a NATIONAL event. I am sure Dana Barr will be there. We will have so much fun. Guess I will have to beg, steal or borrow money for a fancy dress. I think they always have a dinner/dance thingy. I have NO formals at all but I will get one . This is one I wouldn't miss for the world. BTW, you probably were a few hours drive away from me when you went to Oklahoma. Ky is right on the way. I bet you passed right thru Louisville or near it. That is an hour and a half from me. As to how have I been. Well, this Hypoglycemia is kickin my butt. have to see an Endocrinologist this month because eating every two hours doesn't help me. Think something else is going on. Plus, my DH bought me a nine ounce Yorkie the other day and I have been staying on the YorkieTalk.com board a lot. Tis little fella is ten weeks old and I have to hand feed him every two-three hours. GAWDDDDDDDDDD he is purty tho.

Silly? MOI?!?!? I gotta warn you (like this would be a big surprise? NOT!) ..but I tend to have the gift of GAB, as in I talk non-stop about everything and nothing - so bring your ear plugs! Of course, the upside? I NO LONGER SNORE! Used to be a loud lumberjack kinda snorer (per the hubby) and literally the day after my surgery, the snoring STOPPED. The doc thinks it had to do with the tube they shoved down my throat. I hope DANA makes it too - good lord, she and I have been talking about meeting for YEARS now, we just gotta make it happen and this convention might be just the way to do that? Yep, I passed RIGHT THROUGH the town of Louisville on my way to Oklahoma and on the return trip. Wish we could have gotten together then, but in all reality, it wasnt feasible - we did it in a straight shot. NO stops, other then for gas and food - 21 hours trapped in a car with my 26 year old son. LOL, dont you just feel sorry for the boy? Take care of YOU, sweet thang - I hope the doctors can come up with some answers and solutions SOON! Hey? One more thing, then I'll shaddap (Paul is IMPATIENTLY waiting for me to get off this computer so we can run some errands) ...do you have a DILLARDS in your town? If you do, go check em out - they have some of their FORMAL gowns on sale right now - 75% OFF - had been $180 and they're now $40.
