Do you crave certain things and them eat them like crazy for a while?

I'm wondering if anyone else has cravings like I do and do you handle them the way I do? I get a hankering for things and then eat them every day for weeks sometimes before I get my fill of them and move on to something else. For awhile, it was egg salad. I ate it every day on a slice of toast for about two months and now I don't care if I ever have it again. Same with sloppy joe meat. I would eat a 1/3 cup of that, with no bread for about a month... then it was grapes - couldn't get enough of them! Peanut butter on a slice of toast - that one lasted a long time too. Right now, it is canned chunk chicken breast and bread & butter pickles. Been eating that for a couple weeks now and also pickled beets. I'll open the jar and eat about 4 or 5 slices or beets each day. Anyone else do this or am I odd?

You're not odd - I am the same way. This week it's homemade brunswick stew - last week it was corned beef and cabbage. Who knows what next week will bring? Lisa

I'm the same way. This week it is New England Clam Chowder. Egg salad has been starting to sound really good to me again also. Bread & Butter pickles actually have been "calling" me also! I haven't tried them since surgery but everyone up here in the mountains has just finished canning and everyone has B&B pickles! We are a strange lot, aren't we?

Mt. Olive has sugar-free bread and butter pickles (Splenda) that are great! And guilt-free! No, they're not homemade but they don't have sugar like the homemade ones do. Most grocery stores have them. Connie -147# @ goal

Fro 3.5 years I have craved the same thing...tomato soup and mild cherry peppers (not sure if that is what they are called, they are round and have a stem and are in the pickle section). I don't eat these things together.

"Right now, it is canned chunk chicken breast and bread & butter pickles. Been eating that for a couple weeks now and also pickled beets. Bread & Butter pickles when you could have Dill?? CANNED chunk chicken breast? Nope, I don't think so!! HAHAHA!!! But to answer your question, I do believe I eat in food mood phases like you do, but I choose different things for sure!! Jan

And here I thought I was so unique. I too have that compulsive monster. My cravings do last for months at a time. For a while it was Mexican seviche (tomatos, onions, shrimp and cilantro with lime juice). Every day for lunch and dinner (6 months). My husband couldn't get to the store quick enough to buy it. Now I don't care if I ever see it again. Then it was homemade trail mix from items bought at Trader Joe's (3 months). Then it was small Chili from Wendy's (2 months). My cravings never last less than that. Before WLS I had candy cravings (6 months for Lemonheads, 3 months for Werthers Originals, and 6 months for Red Hots). I think our compulsive nature is one of the reasons we had a weight problem, don't you think? It is too much of a coincidence that we are all compulsive, even after WLS, with food. (Yikes!) Missy
