TPN anyone????
Shelia, maybe a dumb remark here but have you tried the reverse rules of the pouch?
http://www.wlsfriends.com/pouchrules.html it's down towards the bottom. Good luck
Hi Shelia...I am sorry you are feeling tired. I found out from another RNY'er that there is a prescription protein called Promot that is a good protein suppliment. Also another one she told me about, she found at Earth Fare called Jarrow it is a soy protein and it doesn't have any taste. She said the information would be on the "Ross" website. When I go back for my checkup I am going to ask my Bariatric Dr. about the suppliments.
I hope you get to feeling better soon,
Sandy
My surgeon had someone in our support group start drinking Isopure to stop the weight loss. Another person in the group started eating two Power Crunch bars a day to stop her weight loss. The Power Crunch bars are really tasty. You can order them on line from Smart Health Store
If you can't eat enough at meal time add these as a snack between meals.

Do you ever log your food on FitDay or a similar program? We get so use to denying ourselves in the weight loss stage, which makes it hard for some people to allow themselves to increase the calories when they reach goal. I find many days that I haven't consumed nearly as many calories as I thought when I log my food. My surgeon has me on (800-1200) calories a day but most people have a better metabolism and need more calories.
Not that I'm having a problem stopping the weight loss mind you. My problem was losing to a decent weight. We all have our own unique problems on this journey.
Best of luck!
My son was on TPN when he was two but it was related to a serious health condition - and he was about 40% below normal weight at the time and couldn't keep any food down.
Your doctor needs to find out why you are losing too much - maybe you need to try to increase your caloric intake or cut down on exercise. I have a friend who had RNY about 18 months ago and he was 25 pounds underweight and very malnourised. Our surgeon told him to gain weight or he would reverse the surgery. Well, he started becoming very conscious of what he was eating - he hate small amounts of high caloire foods every hour or so - this included peanut butter - anyway he could get it down. He also kept a box of Cheez Its or Cheese Nips handy for snacking (we refer to this and the Cheez It Diet - guaranteed to make you gain weight - it did for me and I wasn't underweight). He also has two high calorie, high protein drinks every day (our surgeon recommends Muscle Milk for this purpose - made with skim or 1% milk - it's got about 360 calories a serving before adding the milk). Well, this is working - he has gained about 12 pounds and is looking and feeling much better. He still has a way to go, but he's getting there.
First, find out if you have a medical condition that is causing you to lose weight - and if you don't, start tracking your caloires and exercise - you might just need to increase the first and decrease the second.
