I've only been on maintenance for 2 months so I'm not sure what the long term result will be, but I'll share my history up to this point. 20 months ago I was on 3 diabetes medications, 1 blood pressure medication and 1 cholestrol medication. I came off the diabetes and cholestrol immediately after surgery, but it took 9 months to get off the blood pressure medicine. My blood pressure nows runs around 110-65 consistently. My blood sugar is on the high end of the normal scale but and my cholestrol was 150 last week. Hopefully this will continue into the future. I'm one of the unfortunate ones that can't eat many carbs and maintain my loss so that should help the blood sugar problem. It feels so wonderful to be medication free for the first time in almost 20 years. I will fight every day to stay that way. This surgery was about health issues for me. I'm enjoying the fact that I look much better, but that is minor compared to regaining my quality of life.
