Could you feel your hernia?

Hey gang, I am having just a twinge here and there today in the area that my hernia is. When I touch that area I think I feel it but I am not sure. My surgeon has said it is very small but will need repaired eventually. Just wondering if those of you who have experienced hernias waited very long to fix them, how they felt, if they caused you discomfort etc? I will be calling my surgeon around Oct. 1st to see if they have heard anything about the TT coverage so will ask him then if it is still acting up. Lucy

Lucy-I had my hernia repair done in 2002, along with a TT. (yuck!, that's something I do not want to have again), Anyway----mine was a douple inscional hernia. In the beginning, I only noticed it when I was doing crunches at the gym. A bulge would rise out of my belly--looked like something from the Alien movies! It didn't hurt until a couple of weeks before I was scheduled to have it fixed---I reached for something at work---way over my head, and tore the muscle around the hernia. That was pretty painful. But before that, I really had no discomfort. Good Luck!! Bek

I absolutely could feel my hernia. I had my hernia repair and lower body lift a year ago. I could also pu**** back in if I was lying down. I had no pain, it was more an irritation for me, and frustrating because I had to wear a larger size in the waist because of it sticking out. Mine started several months before I had it repaired. I waited until I was closer to goal so I could do the plastics at the same time. Good luck to you. Connie -147# @ goal

Yep, I can see AND feel mine! I have a warped tummy right at my navel and if I have to cough or sneeze hard then I have to press on it or it feels like it's going to burst. Of course I'm waiting until plastics to get it fixed if at all possible. My surgeon has told me it's fine for now. DD

Lucy--I had my tt 10 days ago. When I woke up the doctor told me that I had a small hernia which he repaired. No doctor had felt it in any of my exams.

Lucy, How are you? I had an inner hernia that I could not feel. All I could feel was the pain as the day wore on. I suffered from July I think of last year until I let him go in and repair it in September. The pain became unbearable. I would scream and cry. I was hospitalized 5 times until my surgery. He said the hernia was 180 degree twisted. That surgery seemed worse to me than the WLS. I hope it will go OK for you. I could not wait that long to fix mine. I want to have a LBL but I don't want any surgery in that area right now. I will have my veins ligated in December so that is enough for now. There was not one day that did not pass and I did not have that terrible pain from that hernia. When I touched my stomach I felt nothing. The tests showed nothing. Until he went in that is when he saw it. Please take care of yourself....Lorraine
