Suggestions Needed! Help!
Hi,
I'm 16 months out and have been at goal for the last 8.
I need some suggestions for snacking.....
Unfortunately the carbs and crunchy stuff, (mainly cheese crackers with PB or reduced fat Cheez-It's,) go down all too easily and I don't really seem to dump on anything. Any suggestions for protein type snacks that are easily portable? I love my high protein yogurt, but it doesn't satisfy my 'crunchie' need..... I don't really care much for jerky or string cheese....
Hello Julie -
Im starting to realize how much I LOVE meat snackers!
One of the new things Ive recently tried was the Beef Jerky CHIPS! Have you seen those? Very thin, with a chip like crisp to 'em, lots of protein and very tasty ...or at least they must be, had to fight my husband off of 'em. Kindy pricey - but then again, when isn't it if it's "healthy" ...just chaps my butt, er, wallet - that they practically DOUBLE the prices of low sugar, low carb, etc, items.
Also - good ol' PEPPERONI Turkey Slices - has become a favorite of mine. I actually like the TURKEY version much better then the real stuff - it's not nearly as greasy with little to no gristle. I have to fight off the cats when Im munching on some. They kinda like it too!
If you want to add some CRISP to the Pepperoni Turkey Slices - toss it into the microwave for a minute and let cool.
Do you like Pork Rinds? I happen to like 'em and you can get them in ALL kinds of flavors now. I found a site about a year ago, that'll send out a SAMPLER ORDER with about 18 different flavors. Of course, if you just want to try 'em locally first, just about every store sells them.
Here are some "basic" Nutritional Facts on Pork Rinds:

I mix Salsa with some Sour Cream then dip my Pork and crunch!

My favorite snack is almonds. I usually eat 10 or 15 at least once a day. It satisfies my need to crunch, taste good and they are healthy. Sam's has huge packages that are a lot cheaper than buying them in the grocery store.
I count them out and put them in a tiny bowl so I know when it's time to quit eating. I really don't think I'd eat more than that, but I don't want to take any chances on mindless eating.
