And there we have it folks, confirmation that women tend to need to have a name for their diets. The Bloody Mary Diet --- I love it!!!
I love my fruits and veggies too and after 27 months from my first surgery I've never done a protein only phase until now. My problem is that if I eat my protein first then I somehow miss the mark of when I should stop the protein and try to get in a few fruits & veggies. This summer I was notorious for eating a whole tomato before I had my protein because I just love fresh-from-the-garden tomatoes. This 10-day phase for me is really just to detox myself from the carbs I've gotten back into. I need to figure out how to incorporate them and not have the munchy hungries all day after I do have some. Even a spinach, mushroom, and tomato salad for lunch tends to throw me in a downward spiral. I would eat the salad first and then my protein. If I eat the protein first I didn't have room for the salad. I knew I needed some healthy carbs ... it's just a vicious circle to me.
I'm a slow loser too and probably always will be which is fine with me. It's not the slow losing as much as it is the lack of control I sense once the carb monster hits me. I'm seriously thinking about doing my proteins from early morning until 6:00 and then have my fruits/veggies only for dinner. Maybe that's the trick so I can go to bed soon afterwards and not have to deal with the ravenous appetite. Anyway, I've got to tweak it somehow because I do want to eat something other than meat!
Thanks for your response; I get a wealth of information from y'all and I enjoy the healthy bantering of ideas and wisdom.

The answer is just from my surgeon. I haven't heard from the nut yet and probably won't since the surgeon answered already. The nut works in his office and she isn't going to contradict him.
Honestly, I get so confused with so many things along with the difference between my two surgeons. My first surgeon told me I HAD to drink five-six protein drinks every day for the rest of my life (can you imagine that!). I'm glad I have y'all to bounce these things off of. The dichotomy lies in the school of thought that you should ALWAYS do what your surgeon recommends and the off chance that your surgeon could be wrong. I feel like I'm sitting on a fence most times on who/what is right. And honestly, I just want to be healthy AND old about 50 years from now. =)

I would never suggest someone NOT listen to their surgeon - HOWEVER, lol you might enjoy an article I wrote called "Doctors, Surgeons and Nutrition" - just for some food for thought http://www.bariatricbytes.com/DocNut.html
And your statement of "she isn't going to contradict him" is exactly WHY I hired my own independent nutritionist. I LOVE my surgeon. He is wonderful with the scalpel...but even HE admits he doens't know diddly about nutrition. What clued me in was when I questioned him about pre and probiotics, enzymes, dehydration syndrome, etc...and he blinked at me blankly lol.
Sigh...........(((HUGS))), Toots

Seems to me people tend to agree with theiir doctor and follow his instructions only when it matches what they were already intending to do anyways. whether it be protein supps. protein trains, tums vs calcium citrate to list only a few of the many things that are often under discussion.
Kind of like my DH, he always does what I want - when what I want was what he intended to do anyways.

My surgeon says no protein drinks, I had intended to use one for breakfast. We even argued about it. I did it his way (to prove him wrong). Oops.
Funny thing is there is a new partner that DOES encourage protein drinks... Where was he when I needed him?
Having said the above, I would tend to agree with you, if you put "Most" in front of "People"
