What did you eat today?

I eat whatever I want. I balance it, however. If I eat a Krispy Kreme doughnut, I add 2 miles to my walk. So instead of doing 6 miles, I do 8 per day. I am one who can tolerate most sugars. The only things my body does not tolerate is bananas and sometimes fish. Yesterday, I threw up the oreos because I ate them on an empty stomach... But I still added 30 minutes to my kickboxing routine. Moderation is the key. One thing bariatric patients are not clear on is that your body is the perfect counter of calories. It does not care where the calories come from. If you are on the Adkins diet and eat a steak and baked potato, that is 798 calories. If you eat a piece of bread, that is only 60 calories. That steak and baked potato are way more calories. A doughnut is 200 calories and a protein shake is 170 calories or more. If you eat a whole premium salad from Wendy's- that is a 7--+calorie salad. I count every thing I put in my mouth and I also plan in advance what I will eat during the day. If I want a butterfinger, I plan for that 100 calories and also add an extra mile to walk it off. Deprivation is not the answer and it will lead to failure. Its okay to have an occasional potato chip. Just eat 10 chips and not the whole bag. If you want a Krispy Kreme doughnut, eat half of one and thats only 100 calories. (for the original glazed) A good tool for keeping track of the amount of calories, protein, carbs, etc is fitday.com. I make sure I get in 100 g of protein per day (70g through two Extreme Smoothie shakes most days) and no more than 800-1000 calories. VAL
