I think you are right. I do know from experence in Mexico, there are no pre-qualifiers. It is all about money, and if you have it, then you can have WLS. It is kinda scary.

Wow - interesting question - and I think you've gotten the most interesting and varied set of answers in the history of this site! and or - My Goodness! Well, back to the question - I think it's very tacky. I'm an old, old nurse and as I've mentioned before was a bit slow on the uptake about going to a seminar about our surgery - although I converted and think it's a good idea and was totally pleased with the care I got. But come on!!! This is surgery folks and for me, this crosses the line big time. JMHO. Well, I think I need to turn the air condtioning up full blast after reading this!! Certainly took my mind off my work day - Bette

I have reservations about any kind of medical advertising, prescription drugs, Doctors, procedures etc. I feel it is unethical. However, when I registered on this site a little over 3 years ago I was contacted by more than 1 bariatric surgery practice, and actually went to one who called me on the phone and set up a consult. Liked them and had the surgery thru them I did check out other programs first tho and did like this one the best. So even tho I find medical advertiseng to be somwhat unethical, it did help me a great deal in getting surgery. there may be alot of people out there wanting surgery and not even looking into it because of the cost that will find it affordable if they see that price. or those who have struggled with their ins companies and were denied approval. those people need a break.

The girl who does my nails only has about 50lbs to lose, and she is talking to people like this about lap band - and they are saying heck yes, we'll do ya! She has zero co-morbidities, but just can't stay on an eating program that works for her. Did WW for a while and lost tons of weight, but we all know what happens when we fall off that wagon. On the subject of garlic (or bread to be more exact), my fave bread is "Nancy Bread." Get those (soft) sourdough hoagie rolls, split in half, slather with butter, then garlic, then parmesan cheese (from the can), then Johnny's Salad Elegance. Put under the flame till the butter bubbles & the bread is just a tad toasty. um um um um um!

going out on a limb here, it seems like an adjustable lap band wouldn't be so bad for someone like that, it restricts portions, but no malabsrption.

Hey girlfriend! First let me start by saying OMG! (now hanging head in SHAME) cuz the site that refers to is the place that did MY surgery! They (just at the beginning of this year) filed bankruptcy! I guess this is there "way" to "restructure" themselves? I've actually broken myself away from them and tend to look to this site for my support. They started getting too focused on "show me da money" and that was a HUGE turn off for me. This chicklet thinks it should be about the patients! I've even gone as far as to depend on my PCP for further check ups and making sure all my work and weight is on track. Sad I know, but how else does one stay focused if all they are wanting to talk about is how they are going to make it??? No thank you! Well, aside from that, and now to go off topic, you'll be happy to know that my doctor FINALLY released me completely and I went back to the health club for the FIRST time this year! YIPPIE! I'm hurting but in a GOOD way. Now I hope to get on track and get this weight back off! Love ya! ~Carole~

Hello Carole!!!! WOW - that's awesome news - Im so glad to hear you've been released to the gym, cause it means you're FINALLY out of "recovery" mode and are now back on the path to a HEALTHIER life. Wish you lived closer g/f (what the heck, youre in the process of buying a house, buy one here in VA Beach?!?) ...then we could be work out buddies. I hate to work out - even with all that subliminal positive crappola that I try to run through my brain saying "I really do ENJOY this" it still is NOT a reality. BUT - I promise you it's much easier to hate it with a buddy! LOL -- if nothing else, GUILT causes me to show up. Hang tough sweety - kick some butt and some pounds to the curb. You can do it, I have FAITH in ya'. Love you - Lei Psssst... I found my "Garth Brooks" Night Shirt the other day, where the hell did the time go?!? Can you believe it's been OVER 10 years since you, me and Mare went to his concert in Chicago? I'm getting so OLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDD!!!
