Hello gals and guys - I saw this Ad on the OH-Site and was kinda caught off guard. The FLASHING portion reads: "LAP-BAND SPECIAL - $10,950 - San Antonio, TX - click here for more info" I don't understand how advertising weight loss surgery in this manner can be viewed as positive. My opinion? It comes off like a Surgery-Mill. Mass production. Just collect the cash, herd 'em through and up on a chopping block - NEXT! It seems to me this would also open the door to "any and ALL" who have the cash. Regardless of any pre-qualifiers, mentally or physically, which in turn escalates the number of complications and failures. What's next, the buddy program - 2 for the price of 1? So what are YOUR thoughts on advertising weight loss surgery in this fashion? I don't want to turn this into a gripe-fest between each other, so let's at least agree to respect everyone's opinions. Regardless of how they may vary from the ACCURACY of mine. Thanks in advance ~ Lei

To be honest Lei--What else can we expect from an organization that allows PouchPal advertising? I agree it is extremely tacky. I am gonna email you a ? re ps--so look for it please.

The ad needs a disclaimer .Something along the lines of only those that qualify Dr.'s requirements . Kristy

Cost is a stumbling block for many. $11k could put it within reach, but it is only in reach if it is known. Enter Advertising the price. Capitalism at it's finest, IMHO. Tek

Thanks Lynda, Kristy and TEK!! Im gonna have to hop off the board for a bit and focus on dinner - I'm at the garlic bread stages and I know for a fact that it CAN catch fire and burn! Wanted to say thanks for your opinions before I left. Also, Kathy emailed me and wanted to know if I'd share the link - so I thought Id post it here for ALL! http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/wish_center_lapband_special.html?D=081905 The ONLY DISQUALIFIER I saw listed was in bright red for those who already have Health Insurance.

Hmm--Garlic bread stage. That was always my downfall. I'd either forget to put it in--or take it out. Often I did remember when the aroma of burnt bread hit me almost at the end of dinner. Once I woke up the next morning and the garlic bread was still in the oven--with the oven on--of course it had shrunk to the size of an apple by then.

LOL - oh gawd woman, we're twins seperated at birth! Although Ive never left garlic bread in my oven overnight. Ive left things that were absolutely unrecognizable - shriveled to the point of crispy lil puffs of black! Oh - and after all that, I still burned the top of the bread. Opted to go for IMPATIENT mode and set the oven for broil broil - afterall I was standing IN the kitchen, how could I forget? Who knows - but I managed! lol I replied to your PS email - hope you got it, my AOL (as always) is a hit and miss!! If you didn't hollar back and I'll reforward it - as always, I rambled way too much in the reply.

Hmmmm my opinion? I remember being one...like a herd of cattle standing in line once a month, early on Saturday mornings...in a smallhick town where a local doctor offered weight loss visit/scripts for diet pills very cheap. There would be up to about 150people standing outside waiting for the doors to open.... Yep de ja mooo He put several of us in a room together after we did the step on the scale bit, talk about embarrassing when some of those in the room gained and he chewed us out.... yep I stood in line mooooin just like the others .... waiting to see the doc and get those pills that I needed to TRY to be normal. I did it then and after hearing about WLS I would have done anything to get a chance at having WLS.... even mooo like a cow! I personally dont see a problem. I hope many who got turned down get to have their chance at WLS thru this way if no other... guess it just depends on how desperate one is... just my opinion, no hard feelings I hope!
