BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Congratulations Dee Dee
It was so nice to read your post- it was a great encouragement to me, I started out Before surgery at 370 (6 ft Tall) and thought NO ONE has as much wieght to lose as ME!! It is now 2 1/2 years and I still have 50 to go seems like forever to meet the goal I just started the protein train to try and bust me off this 6 month long plateau. I think after reading all the results I will see good ones soon,
Congrats again-
Kathy
Congratulations on losing the 100 pounds. You've certainly not had and easy time reaching this point with all your medical & doctor problems. You may not be as far from goal as you think.
My surgeon told me people who start out as large as I did will never fit the insurance weight tables. He explained we have a lot of muscle under the fat that we will never be able to lose. If we continue to lose once the fat is gone we can do damage to our muscles (heart, etc). Guess you have to build some muscle when you carry around 410 lbs. He set a goal of 215 for me. I am wearing a size 16 at 208 and the plastic surgeon says I"ll be in a 12/14 after my abdomonaplasty. I can live with it.
Like you I've had to work for every pound. Basically I've had to keep my carbs below 20 gms a day throughout the loss phase. The loss became very slow even doing that. I started doing a strictly protein diet (Dr. Stillman diet) for one week out of the month to even reach the goal of 215.
I envy those who say they can eat 125 gms of carbs a day and lose weight but it wouldn't work for me. As I look back I see it as a blessing that I could not continue to eat the carbs. I've learned new eating habits that hopefully will make me successful long term. I hope you will feel the same way when you reach your stop point.
I'm smiling with you today over your victory!
