Dense Makes Sense Again!

Day Two on the protein train with my personal choice to use the plateau buster plan. I don't know why I'm so surprised but I really thought that limiting myself to five servings, 3 oz. each, of pure protein foods would have me ravenous and struggling to succeed. The opposite has proven true again today. Again today I measured out containers for work and mixed-n-matched foods for the day. Here's what I've had: 2.7 oz. Italian Sausage 1.7 oz. Shrimp 1.6 oz. Jerkey 3.0 oz. Roast Beef That came to a total of 9 oz. from breakfast through afternoon snack (plus one sugar-free Jell-O). Tonight I prepared ("fixed" for us southerners) 3 oz. of Talapia and could only get 1.2 oz. of it down. So, I've had 10.2 oz. of meat today and I'm not ravenous and I'm not craving anything. My pouch is perfectly satiated and it is 7 PM. I'm thrilled! I think I'll grab a 30 oz. bottle of water and go soak in the Jacuzzi Tub with a good book. How are the rest of you on the protein train doing? DeeDee

Dee Dee I see I will have to join you real soon....I just can give up the carbs yet...too many things going on in life. I know I have to do it but its hard. I see withdrawls in my future. Not losing but I seem to be okay with it right now. Now that is weird. A month or two ago I would have been freaking out and doubling up at the gym....Did I lose my drive? I am glad you are posting this because it makes me think.....Maybe tomorrow I will start! There is no time like the present right! I hope the soak was good! Debbie

Was that a Freudian Slip... "I just CAN give up the carbs..." I know what you mean about being in a position where it's hard to give up. I'm detoxing from a nine-day vacation where I didn't have the control I would have liked to have had over food choices. When you're ready, we're here for you! We'd love to have you join in and tomorrow never comes, but Friday, Sept. 23rd will be here in a few hours and it might be a good day for you to start. DeeDee

Hey DeeDee! I reported what I had before to Theresa's post. I will say that I did get in 118 grms. of protein and 90 oz. water. Had some sunflower seeds tonight, but I'm fine w/that considering what I was consuming. I'm proud of my accomplishment today. I don't think I will have that much protein tomorrow. We shall see. I sure didn't have as hard a time staying away from the carbs like I thought I would. The things we can do once we put our minds to it. The only thing I struggled w/was a few headaches today which a few tylenols took care of. Other than that, I feel great! I will join you again tomorrow. Have a great night. Jeannie

I'm with you on the mindset --- once I decided it was no carbs I managed to do just fine. My problem has always been that as soon as I start eating them it just makes me ravenous the rest of the day. Once my 10 days on the protein train is over I'm still going to do my proteins for most of the day and incorporate GOOD carbs with my evening meal. Glad you had a good day! Keep up the good work. DD

Hey Dee, Glad its working for you. I can attest to it too, with a few minor slip ups, the past few week on the protein train is doing great. I'm much more concious of the protein Im getting in, but also including field greens and dark leafy lettuces in salads. I've had shrimp for breakfast every day this week, and sadly I ran out... ate the last of it on my salad with eggs and NO dressing yesterday for lunch. I had a pork chop and cottage cheese for dinner last night.. Succumbed to s/f choc covered pretzels for a late snack.. cuz I'd never seen them before, and happened by them running out to the store for a ruler for sons homework .. but I didn't feel too bad about it. Chicken by far keeps me the fullest, but still leaves a bit of uncomfy feeling. Eating more of that in the past week too. Keep it up! Wendy

Hi Wendy! As soon as my 10 days of doing this are up then I'm going to add good carbs back into my plan but I've decided they are going to come at my evening meal. If I have them too early in the day I'm doomed for the rest of the day. I ran out of shrimp yesterday too! I guess I'll be heading to the grocery store today because they are a quick source of protein and I love them. Sugar Free chocolate covered pretzels? Wow --- I've not seen them before either. There was a whole box of the real kind open in my office yesterday and I was proud of myself for avoiding them. Congrats on doing so well! DD

Congrats to you on your success...I am very impressed with the information on your profile! I am working on getting off carbs myself. I am holding at 180, but I need to be at 170...with 10 pounds of plastic surgery damage to do, that will leave me at an ideal 160. The key for me, quit eating sweets.
