I am 3 years out, and I have gained 15 lbs. I am so depressed about it, and you can get in that rut. You feel down because you have gained, so you eat, so you don't exercise, then you beat yourself up. Well, its good to know I am not alone, but I pray I get back to doing the right thing. I can't believe I had surgery, only to find a way to cheat! I have really needed someone to talk to, so thanks for listening. Thought about WW too, but thought I wouldn't help me.??

Nan-I just want to say you are definitely not alone. I have pretty much done the same thing and have been working to get rid of those crummy 12 lbs. I think that it is a two year thing. this is the first time I have been sitting up and on the computer since I returned home yesterday from my tt--and this note is exhausting me. I would love to talk with you. Isn't it funny how we know what to do, but for some reason it is hard to do it? I guess we just have to get back to basics. Take care and please stay in touch. We are all in this together.

Thanks Lynda -- it is good to know I'm not alone. Yes, I think I look pretty good now, but don't want to kid myself either. I know that I could be doing better and would like to achieve my own personal goal of 150. As for the protein train -- I have no problem getting in enough protein -- just too many carbs and too many overall calories daily too! I usually eat 1800-2000 cals per day! I would like to limit it to 1500 and keep my carbs under 100... Glad you are feeling well enough to sit at the computer -- don't pu**** Do you still have my cell phone number? If so, use it and give me a call after 4:30pm one day - we'll talk. Here's a soft hug for you,

I am new to this part of the site, but am prepared to kick your ass. That's what you asked for...right? Below are changes I have made and practiced every day for the past 4 years. I have lost lots, then stayed the same, in the end of my fourth year post-op have lost nearly 30# more and am 9 away from (my current) goal. I will never be fat again. I am not afraid of success. Oh, and one more thing...I pig out one day a week. I save up all my old bad behaviors for one day per week and plan to eat like a pig. And guess what...even with the planned day of piggery I continue to lose about a pound per week. Go figure! If you are interested, I can share more, but I don't want to give you too much at once. Just know that you can do this, and I will be your ass kicking buddy if you want! 1. Keep a food log...and oh yeah, DON'T LIE! Write down everything you eat and remember that when you taste something no matter how small that is considered eating (unless you hate it and spit it out). 2. When you get used to logging your intake, start counting calories. Buy yourself a calorie and fat guide book and tally as you eat, not at the end of the day. You need to be aware of how many calories you have eaten at any given time. 3. Measure everything that has calories! You need to know what a serving looks like. 4. Do 30 min. of exercise every day, walking is what the good lord made us able to do without a membership or fancy equipment. The more you do the more you will want to do! And if walking is your exercise of choice, you can never use the excuse that you can't get to the gym, the equipment you would use is not available, blah, blah, blah I am getting fat again just thinking of the myriad of excuses! 5. Before you eat anything ask yourself on a scale of 1 (totally full) to 5 (totally starving) how hungry you are. If you are a "3", you likely could pass on eating. 5a...because I don't want to shock you with #6...weigh yourself every day. No matter what. Even if you ate like a pig. Take responsibility for gains. Don't let a 5# weight gain turn into a 50# weight gain! If you are writing down what you eat (awareness), measuring amounts (portion control), exercising (boosting metabolism), thinking about level of hunger (changing behavior from mindless to thoughtful) you will continue to be successful. AND as a bonus and parting gift...if you do these things every day you will be successful for the rest of your life...and you can write back if you don't believe me. You can write back even if you do!
