When I tried to donate blood, I was turned down because my iron was 31. This is low. When I had my plastics May 31, same thing. My surgeon hasn't done any labs on me in forever and ever, but as tired as I feel, even though I am quite healthy, I am suspecting not only iron deficiency, but B12 as well. Does [or has] anyone been on Trinsicon for this? I am thinking I probably need a lab appointment with the surgeon.....

I take Trinsicon every day. (I am 2 years post op) I have also had B12 shots. My doctor wants me to have a blood test every 3 months. Right now, my B12 is OK and I am not getting the shots, but still taking the Trinsicon. I did find my energy level was much better when my B12 is the right level. Hope this helps and you get some energy SOON!

Hello. My surgeon only orders labs 1 x a year unless there is a problem. Now, I like to have labs a little sooner than that--say every 3-6 months at least. So, I visit my PCP and ask him to order them and he does! Just wondering if your surgeon won't order them, will your PCP work with you? -joanne s

I'm sure she will, although she is totally unfamiliar with the physiology involved in the body following WLS and she prefers that I see Dr. C when it is related to that.
