Its absolutely hysterical, in a deja vu kinda way that I'm reading this post. Just today, in the office, the people *****nt our space downstairs had a lunceon for their owners birthday. They had a huge chocolate cake topped with some sort of sliced fruit.. We couldn't figure out what the fruit was (from peaking over the balcony to the buffet below) so later in the day we asked the guy.. he said FIG.. I about choked LOL.. he couldn't believe i'd never eaten, let alone had the desire to try a FIG. His wife GROWs them LOL.. I said well, I MUST love them, as I cant even buy fig newtowns or I'd eat an entire sleeve in one sitting LOL.. I can relate, you have so much more willpower than me to toss them, I'd have justified the entire sleeve with no prob! Wendy

My kids are so not happy with me for tossing them lol. Never had a fig? Gal you've got to try them! I'm going to work on a sugar-free homemade fig cookie. My mom used to make them loaded with sugar - so I'm going to try and convert it to sugar-free. Wish me luck lol

LOL, nope, never had an actual fig, and was totally surprised when I was told the fruit on top of the cake was a fig.. no idea what they even looked like! For some reason my thought process leads me to believe they are along the lines of prunes.. which I also refuse to try! Its a mental/visual thing with me! Good luck on the cookie venture.. Anything with the name cookie in it, I usually love LOL.. so it will most like turn out great! Wendy

lol - if you're interested they have a pic of them fresh here:http://www.pickyourown.org/figs.htm They say they taste like a cross between a strawberry and a peach. Not in MY mind, but that's what they say lol.

Hey great education, as I don't think I've ever even SEEN a whole fig LOL.. but i'm not sold enough to try one.. although I love peaches, it takes a long time for me to take the first bite of one.. weird, I know, its a texture thing.. I'm more of a nectarine kinda gal.. wont go near a kiwi, and strawberrys throw me for a tail-spin, unless they are disguised as twizzlers lmao! I think if we ever meet, though, Tooter, and you've developed your s/f fig cookies, I'd give that a go anyday! Wendy

If Wendy has never even SEEN a fig, then I guess dates stuffed with peanut butter, covered in Splenda probably isn't on her list, either! Jan 240/128/115 (at goal size)

Jan, I have never tried a date stuffed with PB, but always thought that dates stuffed with cream cheese sounded too weird, until I tried one. Omg, they are delicious! I might have to try the PB one now too! Eileen

Eileen--I am of the belief that anything stuffed with cream cheese is excellent! Isn't it interesting about the size thing--boy they play with our minds. It works though. I was out shopping with my sister the other day--she has been losing weight--there was no way she was going to buy an article of clothing that said anything larger than 12. I found it frustrating when helping her shop, but honestly I can relate to it.
