I would NEVER post this on the main board...just a funny ugh today. I was truly craving figs. Someone mentioned them to me the other day and I've been obsessing over the idea ever since. Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to find figs in my valley this time of year? Soooo....I bought fig newtons - and ate 4 of them Yes, my pouch is pissed off. My tongue is VERY happy. How do you reconcile the two. Shoot....I gave in. I hate giving in. I've tossed the rest of the package in the trash AND dumped coffee grounds on them. Sigh....not looking for advice, just needed to 'confess'. Pretty funny for a Jew to need to confess - doncha think?

Glad to hear thats what other people have to do too. There are some things I just should not have in the house. I have put cake down the garbage disposal and food in my car trunk to deliver to people that can handle it. It is a bummer but at least you aren't gonna make pouchy sick anymore. Take Care! Lucy

It is HARD to throw away good food! Usually I'll send it to work with hubby, but these had to go NOW or I'd eat another 4. Gee, I'm sorry you do it too, but nice to not be alone!

Dame T., And it was FIGS that did it? Figs? OK, that's right up there with The Pickles with Ice Cream. I have some Odd cravings now and then But that's got to be at least in the Top 10 If not the Top 5. Where will it end? Beets? Hearts of Palm? OK folks- What's your Oddest Craving? For me, it would be a recent attachment to Pickled Okra. (Spicy Pickled Okra actually) Other examples of when "Head Hunger" Is clearly coming from the Head? Best Wishes- Dx

I used to eat figs fresh off the tree when I was a kid or cooked mixed into oatmeal. Soooo yummy! So I guess you could say I was seeking comfort food? Psst...I LOVE crunchy peanut butter smeared on dill pickles! What to chuckle? When I was prego...I couldn't stand it lol

Just last week I HAD to have a candy cane (left over from last Christmas) dipped in salt. I crave salt more than anything and I like sweet with my salt. I did get a lot of strange looks ...but hey...I am used to it. Sometimes I just suck on rock salt and I am happy. Then I drink a gallon of water .....carla

I can't say I've ever craved a candycane with salt - but we do like candy cane bits in popcorn balls - so close? LOL

Unfortunately I crave all my hard candy dipped in salt. Fortunately I don't eat much hard candy so it is a rare craving. The salt however, is an issue. I have never tried a Fig.cj

Carla--that is really an odd craving. How would you ever think of even trying that?

I used to really enjoy eating toffee covered peanuts, the sweet and salt mixture, and then when the shop at the mall started mixing caramel corn with cheese corn, again the sweet and salt combo, so in my great wisdom one day when I was eating a candy cane many years ago (pre WLS of course) I felt that it was kind of bland so in all my great wisdom, I said to myself, "why don't you try a little salt with it?" and there you have it. The sweet and salt combination has stuck with me ever since. Unfortunately, I like the salt more than the sweet and my legs tend to puff up from water retention if I eat too much, so I try to stay away from it until the craving is too bad. And I do stick with sugar free candy (which tends to be sweeter tasting than regular) so I am not getting too much sugar to dump on.
