his jaw dropped!! long
hi everyone! I posted this on the main board last night and wanted to share it with you too. I had to go see a specialist in St. Louis today for a non WLS problem, this is a 4 hour drive but because I am a veteran, I can get a free van ride for the majority of the way, I just had to drive to the VA hospital (75 miles) and board a van with other veterans going up to the big city VA hospital.
well I had an appointment at a regular hospital so after the driver dropped off the other veterans at John Cochrans hospital, he drove me the 3 miles to Washington University hospital, one the way there we were talking and I brought up that I cant take naps anymore, that if I try to lay down, my mind will be going too fast and I have to get up and do something, like weed the garden, wash some clothes etc...
the driver asked if I took anything to help me sleep and I explained to him that the reason I do this is because i have so much energy since I lost 130 pounds with GBS, Well thankfully we were at a red light, he twisted aound in his seat and looked at me, his jaw actually dropped!
He stated that "You have no sagging skin" and "I would never have imagined you as a heavy person" I told him that I used to take the van a few years ago and did he remember me, he said NO, I asked if he remembered the day his wifes daughter had her baby and the lady riding the van who was crocheting. He said he did remember a lady crocheting but could not remember what she looked like....
well i pulled out my BEFORE picture and he was just floored! he kept saying how he would never had guessed that lady was me.
so i had a good day, it was long and i am really tired but it was a good day.

Doesn't that make you feel great! You look great by the way. I know just how you feel. I have a brother that just got back from Iraq and hadn't seen me since I weighed 328. I've lost a 134 pounds lightened my hair and let it grow out (to cover the gray, I'm 47), anyway, he walked right past me at the airport and only recognized me when he saw my son walk over and sit down next to me in the waiting area. He was totally floored! We both hugged and cried. Life is good, savor that feeling.
Take care.
