Hi there guys. I am so happy that there is a special board for the WLS grads. My name is Lorraine. I am 53 years young... I had WLS 12/15/03 and I weighed 245 lbs and had many complications. I was insulin dependent, had diabetic nueropathy, high blood pressure and other problems. I took 18 pills per day and large doses of insulin. I have lost to present 115 pds and do weigh depending on the day between 130-135 lbs. I am trying very hard to maintain my"GOAL". I think that I have learned or hope I had learned Behavior Modification. I am 5ft6 inches tall and look tall and "SLENDER" WOW...I can't believe I said that word. 1)How is everyone doing at this time post-op their WLS? 2)Are you satisfied ,or is there more you would like to lose? Thanks for any answers you guys give me. Peace and Love...Lorraine

Hey Lorraine, Welcome to the grads board. Sounds like you're doing great! I hope your insulin is better controlled now with the weight loss, and well as your other medical issues. Enjoy your new life. As far as your questions, I'm 4 years post op and loving life. I used to be over 400 pounds, and so much has changed in what I'm able to do. Its mostly the little things that get me choked up when I think about them. Of course I'm not satisfied, don't know if I ever will be, the demons are still there, I would still love to lose more, fighting not to gain more.. Its one day or meal at a time, for sure. Wendy

Hi Wendy, I forgot to answer you the other day as far as my Insulin levels. I have been off my meds especially the Insulin since 6 months after my WLS. I only take synthroid now. I used to take 18 pills per day. I take my blood sugars at least 3 times a week, but my Diabetes seems to be sleeping for now. No symtoms, No meds. I am enjoying my new life and I Love it. Stay healthy and enjoy.....Lorraine

Hi Lorraine, Sounds like you have done very well. I will be two years out here on the 25th of Sept. I am feeling very good but disgusted with myself because I could be at goal by now if I hadn't messed around with my food. I definitely am still hooked. At 5 ft 2 I want to lose at least another 20-50 pounds. I am currently 161 up from a low of 157. (I'm 37 years old) I maybe shouldn't get all wrapped up in the numbers because my health has greatly improved. Am off diabetes and blood pressure meds and joints no longer ache just standing and moving around. In fact I have a job where I am on my feet most of the day. At one time I was 330 pounds, 285 just before surgery. Good to hear your story... Lucy

Lorraine--Welcome to our wonder grads board. Congratulations on doing so great. You have done fantastic! I, too, am 5'6" and I am a good 25-30 pounds more than you--well 5'6 1/2" (I'm sure it is all in the half inch)LOL! I feel absolutely wonderful--doing great, but got to watch what I eat as I just had around a 10 lb gain and am still working to get rid of it. Am I satisfied? Hmm--Like I said I feel wonderful, but I really would like to lose some more. I figure first I will work on this 10 pound thing and then I will work on the rest. I have lost several lbs. in the past couple weeks, which is good news. Take care and have a great week-end!
