I have a question that I need your experience to help me with, please...... Can a stricture happen at any time, say one or two years down the road or is it something that usually happens within the first year? Thanks.

During the first couple months postop, it can happen - just happen. Too much scarring from the healing, it narrows more than they anticipated, etc. It still can happen at any time in your life, but it's my understanding that typically something has caused it. Such as an ulcer causing scarring, excess acid coming up from the bowels causing scarring, injury - typically it's caused by some time of scarring though rather than a narrowing by constriction further postop. I had hoped that you would reply. You are such a wealth of valuable info. So, if I am understanding you correctly, that later on strictures, say after a year, are usually caused by something else that causes you to scar. Makes sense. Another question...do you need to have pain as in the stuck food kind of pain or can you just have the foamies and vomiting? It seems that lately when ever I eat any kinds of meat I get the foamies and vomiting without any "stuck food" pain feeling. (If that makes any sense). I don't know why all of a sudden this has started...I haven't changes anything hmmmm. Always an interesting voyage. Thanks again for your help.
