Embarassing Question - HELP!!!
Chewable Gax X and also taking a daily dose or two of Benefiber works wonders.
How much liquid are you drinking? By drinking at least 64-100 oz of fluid a day, it flushes the intestines out. If you are taking in a lot of protein and not balancing it with lots of fluids, you will have painful, fowl gas.

Hi Judi
I too have the same fears because like you I also work in the public school system. My bm's have gotten to the point where they smell like a bomb hit and everyone should wear a gas mask. In fact, this morning my daughter used the bathroom after me and went in wearing nose plugs! Literally!! School starts again on Tuesday, and I dread having the feeling of needing to drop everything just to make it to the bathroom in time. The other bad thing is the faculty bathroom which is right outside my classroom does not have a circulation fan, so I try to sneak out without anyone seeing me so I don't get blamed for the smell. Just this past weekend I went to the store to buy my own can of room deodorizer. I bought the unscented brand of Oust to keep with me at work. I am trying to pinpoint the culprit that triggers these explosive bouts but have not yet pinpointed the cause. Sometime I think it is the 1% milk w protein, or dairy products and other times I think its the crystal light I drink constantly. It has gotten so that I am afraid to put anything in my mouth outside of the confides of my home and one of our three bathrooms. I don't even know if I should now classify myself as having IBS, because one minute I am fine and the next I have to make a made dash. If you should find out anything, please let me know because I too would like to find the cause along with a solution.
Hugs
Marianne
PS--sorry for the detailed descriptions!

Misery loves company, I guess - I am exactly the same way in the bathroom and that doesn't matter what I eat! I left the Oust in the bathroom at school, too.
Like you with the gas, I have also tried to figure out what's causing it but it seems to be a late morning/early afternoon situation so it must be the yogurt. But why now? Amanda may be right about the timing but I really did order both the charcoal "pads" and the Devrom. I'll let you know if they wor****ep thinking I should eat something else on Tuesday (I seem to have been fine all weekend, too) but then run the risk of a worse reaction! I still don't regret this surgery for one second but who knew this was a result?
Hope things go well for you on Tuesday! We started last week - students came on Wednesay.

Marianne,
I found a deodorizer at Walmart in the car deodorizer section. It's called Ozium. It has been a Godsend. I don't care for the blue can, but I like the orange scent and new car one. I have one in every room of my house and car....LOL... Seriously, sugar free stuff gets me everytime. The deodorizer is very concentrated and last a long time. They have two sizes. I like the small one for my purse and car. The larger one for bathroom and living room. I swear by it. I have tried them all and this one works right on contact. It doesn't just disguise it. It really takes it away. I'm gonna look into Devrom too. We shall see!
Hope things go well for you at school.

You're not alone.
I've found sugar alcohols give me terrible gas. And, Kool Aid with splenda (if I drink a lot) will get me. I haven't broken the sugar alcohols down by which bothers me worst. But, just yesterday I found a YUMMY new protein bar and it caused painful although not abundant gas ... lemme see what it was ....
AHHH! 24g malitol!
I see another person responded about malitol too .....
Hope this info helps.
I have really bad gas w/the slightest amt. of sugar free stuff. The only thing that helps w/the odor is Ozium. I found it at Walmart in the car deodorizer dept.. It is highly concentrated. I don't care for the blue can odor, but I like the orange one and the new car sent. I have one in pratically every room of my house and car..LOL.... I am thinking of getting the Devrom too.
If I know we are going somewhere, I don't eat anything sugar free. If company is coming over, I won't eat it either. This has really become a problem, but give me this one over the comorbidties anyday!
Hope this has been helpful.

Jeannie
