The other night a commerical came on the TV about a medication that is in the same family as Fosamax or Actonel, but, this one you take monthly. Well, being it was my time to head off to bed I couldn't remember the name. Has anyone else of this new medication? My fosamax is gagging me and would like to find something easier, but if not, will continue with the liquid Fosamax. Thanks in advance, Darlene

Darlene, What has your bypass dr. said about taking this medication. The side effects scared me into not taking it.

I've been on Fosamax for two years, no side effects, have to have it....no other options for me.... one of those long term post op conditions... My surgeon has nothing to say about it, I see my PCP on these types of issues. Darlene

Well, it starts with a "B"!!!!!!!!!!! not much help am I ? But my pcp gave me a coupon for one the other day and I got the pill but did not take it. It is too close to Fosamax for me and I had to stop that because of it irritating my pouch.

Boniva http://www.thehealthnews.org/news/2635/osteoporpsis.html I know Charlie just switched her medication--I don't think it was to that--but I'll ask her and have her email you if it is. Has the Fosamax helped?

Yes, I had an improvment this past year, not a lot, but the endo said any improvment is good....I just gag at the thought of the liquid Fosamax, thinking maybe switching to the tablet and hoping enough dissovles, or trying the new once a month one.... Thanks for the info. Darlene
