Eating out of a suitcase?
Sound strange? Well it is. I'm consulting again and living in a hotel room. This presents a unique eating problem. I did manage to find a great hotel close to the office with a fridge and micro. So I'm mostly doing breakfast and lunch in the room. I'm not snacking as much.
I ate fast food last night. Me. I went with a group to a place called SOUTHWEST GRILL....sounded ok to me. Once I got in there....I found it to be a slightly up scale Taco Hell. So I had a hard shell taco and some chips. They were so greasy.....I knew I would pay the piper today....and I have. hehe Won't go back tho. I loved that greasy mess way too much.
I also found this morning that I almost can't button the slacks I have on. And they fit great last year. Uh Oh.
Hope all is well with everyone.....I MISS THE BEACH.

Charlieeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
There you are girl! I haven't seen you in awhile. Maybe because I haven't been on the main board in awhile. Been hanging out here. I love this board.
So your on the road. How long will you be traveling for? It seems like you have things worked out pretty well for breakfast and lunch. Taco Hell...LOL...I haven't eaten there in awhile. I hope you are feeling better.
So what kind of consulting are you doing? How long will you be on the road?
Hope all goes well for you. Miss you!
Take care,
Your Gastric Buddy,
Jeannie
Hey Jeannie....OH isn't notifying me again by email for my messages. I just found these.
Consulting for about a month....in Albany, Georgia. Can't wait to get back to the beach tho. Will be going home this weekend....fighting all that holiday traffic....
I consult to telecommunications companies...right now I'm working on a time and motion study in a call center for BellSouth. Boring.
As a result...too much shopping...hehe.

Good to see you posting, Charlie! I can't believe, you eating fast food?? LOL
I know what you're going through, I'm getting ready to go on a 12-day trip with my family, and I'm a little nervous because I'll be at their mercy as far as where I eat. But I did well on our Christmas cruise----I figure if I can do that, I should be able to do anything!
Don't worry, you'll do fine, I have faith in you! Hopefully you'll be back at the beach soon...
Hugs,

Yeah Connie...me...eating fast food. And I did enjoy it. And I've now been craving it. I've thought the last few days about stopping in and having it again....but I won't. Not worth it. Its an ok treat for every now and then. But I just have to stay away from it.
Tonight I went to Cracker Barrel and had 'breakfast' for dinner. Its not impossible to eat right on the road...just have to be creative. There 's a Publix down the street and that helps. So I've done ok. And you will too. Just do the best you can and don't eat junk. You should be fine.

I'm heading out on a nine-day trip this Friday with four other family members and I'm so scared about 1) eating and 2) having gas in the vehicle! (Not the $2.79+ a gallon type you understand )
I've got stuff to pack in the suitcase too --- individual packs of salmon, tuna, chicken, and beef jerky. I just hope I make it home without gaining weight. I'm also going to miss going to the gym after work but I'll try to compensate by walking early in the mornings or evenings.
I hope your beach is surviving Katrina!

Hey DeeDee...my beach is fine I hear. I can't wait to walk on it again. I heard a rumor tonight that by midnight gas here would jump to around $3.50 a gallon....I so hope its just a rumor....YIKES.
I'm doing fine eating wise....gotta love having a fridge....keeps my protein shakes cold.

Hi Charlie!
A fellow road warrior! I travel for a living, I'm on the road and staying in hotels Monday through Friday every week.
I've come up with some stuff that has helped me, it's my little routine.
For lunch, I buy the "lunch on the go" boxes from starkist: it's tuna salad made with lowfat mayo with crakers. 200 calories, and doesn't need refrigeration. I buy them in the 5-packs at Sams and take them in my bag with me.
I also search online for the nearest grocery store wherever I am staying. Most places now have rotesserie chicken and I usually grab one of those and chow down.
Also if I'm driving for long distances and need a snack, I grab jerky from a gas station.
And of course, the Crystal Light on-the-gos are great for drinking throughout the day. I have about 10 in my purse.
Good luck and enjoy the road!
(PS- I am in a hotel in Pittsburgh tonight.... UGH)
