Just a note to apologize for not being on the boards more. Have been really busy trying to get the house ready for my Mother in Laws visit, and you all know once I get on here, I can't shut it off... lol... Hope you all are doing great, and have a great weekend planned, can't believe summer is almost at the end, with Labor Day coming up this weekend. Leaves up here are starting to change a bit, and has been great weather to work outside as well as in... This house is really starting to take shape, we called the carpenter in yesterday for some estimates, on window trim outside, and to see if he can find where are bats are coming in... Our Plumber Cal, has named our house Green Acres, and in return his new name is Mr. Haney, and of course our new carpenter is now Ralph. My Prayers go to all that are in Katrina's path, and I hope you all take care, and may the good Lord keep you wrapped in his arms safely.. On another note, today is Patty Butlers Birthday.... And I'm jealous your leaves are turning colors ... ours are just turning brown from lack of rain although we finally did get some Saturday. No need to worry about me... I'm in the northern part of Mississippi (just outside of Memphis, TN). When we bought our house we asked our car insurance company for an estimate on homeowner's insurance and the price they quoted us was twice as high as anyone else. We asked why and they told us it was because we live in Mississippi and Mississippi get**** by hurricanes. We just laughed. We could go two miles over the state line to Tennessee and the insurance prices dropped in half. Silly insurance folks! I did live in Biloxi in '65 when Hurricane Betsy last did a number on New Orleans and I lived through Camille in '69. There's nothing like packing up a car, boarding up your home and then spending 2-3 days waiting out the storm wondering if you'll have a home when you return. My heart goes out to all these folks who are doing that same thing now. I had custom built shelving installed in a converted storage room that I use for a sewing room this last week because I needed more storage space. I sometimes get so frustrated by all the STUFF we accumulate. When we go to the little cottage in Kentucky we somehow manage to live, cook, sleep, eat, and relax in a little house that is only 500 square feet. It takes all of maybe two hours to completely spring clean the place. Sometimes I think I just want to get rid of 75% of my stuff and live a simple life. In fact, as I was thinking about those folks in Louisianna packing up to head out I took note of what I have here that would be valuable enough to pack up and take with me and realized I wouldn't replace half the stuff I do have! Thanks for thinking of me ... we're just hoping to get some of the rain from Katrina. DeeDee

When I left Md, I rented a dumpster, and I filled it.. probably could have made a pretty penny from a yard sale, but I said I wasn't going to do that, so I just grabbed and tossed... and I "vowed" no more, am going to keep it as simple here as I can.. Was nice to be able to clean the whole downstairs in one weekend, minus the cupboard drawers. and that included washing all 20 windows inside and out... Am waiting for Mike to roll out of the sack so I can get up there, and finish up there, probably about an hour or so too, and it will be done. Then I want to get back outside and pick up more rocks, and finish build my little wall near the house for the flower garden so I can get the bulbs in this fall.... So will be a good day....

G'morning VAL! Oh, and we better NOT have to start apologizing every time we're away from the board for a few days or longer. I'd be saying "sorry" all the time. Bottomline, "we" stop by as often as we can and that's MORE then enough for the rest of us, right? LOL - I know the "non-stop chattering once you start, via the keyboard" that you speak of. Omg I get on here, and am here for the day, it is so hard not to put the damn puter away once I start.... But today is a good excuse to be here, Mike is still sleeping and I don't want to go upstairs and clean and wake him up..... haha..... any excuse is a good one, not to tackle the upstairs... But with the Mother in Law Day approaching quickly, I really need to do it, so it gives me a little incentive to get my arse in gear... lol When did you say you were coming up??? Glad you are back with us. I bet you are loving fixing the house up, you are a nut when it comes to houses. I sent you an email about someone that can help you with the bat problem. He is from Windham Maine, but knows ALL there is to know about bats and how they get in. Bet he can tell you over the phone. I am going to go watch the news to see what happened in LA. Hugsss Theresa
