I am 15 months out, and just this week have had some heartburn. Can we get heartburn? I just worry it is something else I should pay attention to. Anyone else get heartburn? Terri

I am 17 months out and have just begun having reflux! I asked about that here on the WLS Grads board and found out that I am not alone. There are others here that suffer from all kinds of "normal" digestive problems. I would recommend that you check with your surgeon to be certain that there is nothing else contributing to your discomfort and then find out what you should use to ease the misery. Good luck!

I had reflux pretty bad before, but I've been lucky. Only 2 bouts with it post op, and neither bad enough to even take TUMS for. Linn

Hi Terri I had acid reflux something awful prior to my surgery. My surgeon had told me prior to the surgery that it would be cured with the surgery. I've had 2 episodes during the night since then. However, I went for a barium swallow a few weeks ago due to some swallowing problems and had an episode of acid reflux during it that was documented. I've had a few times that I felt "too full" even though I knew I had not eaten more than I should have. Now I think that feeling might be heartburn or acid reflux. I've been taking Nexium (the purple pill) two times a day due to scar tissue from the acid reflux caused a stricture in my throat two different times and I had to have endoscopes to stretch them. Over all, my digestive problems are sooooooooooooooooo much better post surgery. Good luck!
