I'm pre opt and wondering if any of you have had any complications from having the surgery a few or more years back. Basically, just how you feel as well. Would you do it again looking back? Also, have you gained any weight back, and is it a struggle? I have heard from recent grads, but really want to hear the truth/scoop from those of you who have lived with the surgery now over time. Thanks so much!!!

Not sure if you're going to get answers here, as this forum is basically designed for the over 1 year post ops to talk about their needs. I'm sure if you go to the Caliornia Board or the Main Board someone will answer you there... Maybe you can just read past posts and see what all is said..... My understanding of this forum was for the older post ops to get away from those daily questions that appear on the main boards.... Sorry to be such a crank....but..... 2+ years post-op. Very happy with my decision, would do it again in a heartbeat. The first year took lots of determination and the will to succeed at what I wanted. I have not gained any of my weight back. Every day I jump on the scale (keeps me in check). I have protein drinks daily, eat lots of fruit, and try and stay on the straight and narrow for the most part. Yes, I do eat candy and some other goodies, but I try not to be compulsive about it. I was a compulsive eater before, so I don't want to repeat that again. What I don't crave, I try and not seek out. In my opinion, and only my opinion, the less variety one has, the easier it is to keep it together. For example, ethnic food is harder to control. If I stick with protein, salads, fruits, whole grains, some very very very toasted whole wheat bread (usually can tolerate 1/2 slice), legumes, and the like, even some quaker oats, I am good to go. I try and not put myself in situations I can't handle like Mexican food, Chinese, etc. I can do them, but I try and avoid them. WLS has made my decision-making easier. I hope this helps and wasn't too winded for you. Good luck. Be like the "little train that could". You can do it, you can do it, you can do it, you can do it. Missy (268/125 as of today). WooHoo.

hi - Oh thanks so much for your note. I realy appreciate it! Souns like you're right on track. Congratulations to you for all your success!! I'm excited about the surgery. My mom and sister are just concerned that there will be some long term effects that i dont know about, and wont know until later down the line....But, from what I have researched, I'm making the right decision. Thank so much!
