Lei gave me an excellent idea with her post yesterday... wait until half the day is over and see how well I'm doing before vowing. Today I vow to: ? Avoid the Krispy Kreme donuts, crumb cake, and the Fairytale Brownies [ www.brownies.com ] that someone sent to the office. ? Eat fewer than 1000 calories. ? Drink a minimum of 80 oz. of water. ? Work out in the gym after work. What are your vows for today? DeeDee

DeeDee, Since I'm new here, my only vows for today are to come back tomorrow and see how you did with yours! WP

Windy, It's so nice to have you on board! Okay, I'm counting on you to come back and check to make sure I've kept my vows because those brownies are SCREAMING my name right now and unfortunately I don't dump on sugar. I'm trying so hard to keep my focus and knowing you're going to check on me is very helpful. See you tomorrow and feel free to join in with your own vows for the day! DD

Hey Dee Dee!! You and your vows were being PAGED this morning, lol, methinks others like the EARLY post! My VOW? ...and it's trully gonna be a hurry up and wait, kinda vow. I won't know how I do, till the morning. Well, unless I break down before then. Let's hope not! I have the HARDEST time with NIGHT EATING!!!!!!!!! Just irks me to no end, I can do so good all flippin DAY and then night time gets here and a dam opens up and my mouth is the catch-all! Sooooooooooo - about that VOW I promised? I VOW NOT TO EAT ANYTHING (period) after 7:00 pm. tonight! That being said? Im gonna scramble to make something I can call dinner. Hopefully dense proteins to tide me over. Although the truth be told, I don't eat at night because Im hungry, so this is gonna be a toughy - regardless of what I make for dinner! Hugs - Lei

Okay, back to the early posting although I have to admit that posting later allowed me to get into the office and realize what demons were lying in wait for me! I need to do the "no eating after 7:00" routine too ... I can get a mild case of munchies after 9:00 and just go nuts with it. What's for dinner? I'm having cold shrimp and colby jack cheese. It is too dang hot to cook or eat something hot here in Mississippi! Hope your hubby is having a good birthday. DeeDee

LOL - well I'll tell you but you aren't allowed to make any "ewww" sounds, k? Most people think it's yucky, but me and my son (who's now 26) LOVE it. He still asks for it when he's joining me for dinner and we know Paul will be out of town (he can't stand it). Anyway.... it's diced up spam & sauteed onions mixed in with pork n beans, heated up. Then layered over a white and brown rice blend. LOL - the best thing about this meal (my dad used to make it for us kids all the time) ....is that I find that I NEVER have to share it with any of my mainland friends. They just don't have the passion for SPAM that us Islanders do! Psssst... so far so good, it's 8:15 and Ive been keeping my fingers busy posting to the boards and to surgery pages - and OUT of the flippin' snack cabinets.

Sounds like a meal straight out of the south! Honestly, it does have a weird sort of appeal just reading it... kind of like that weird urge to have a Krystal burger about once a year. Hasn't SPAM just recently come out with those individual packs for convenience like tuna and salmon? I'm so proud of you keeping out of the snack cabinets this far past 7:00. I am trying to determine if I can actually say I kept my vows today or not. My boss opened that box of a dozen brownies that was sent to our office. She put one on a plate, stuck it in the microwave for just a few seconds and then showed up at my desk INSISTING I taste a bite. I pinched off a piece that was smaller than a chocolate chip and ate it just to satisfy her. I oooed and awwwwed over it and it seemed to satisfy her need to get confirmation these were the best brownies in the world. She stopped and shared with my other two co-workers as well. So... if I didn't eat more than a crumb do I have to admit to failing today? I did go to the gym after work and got up to my highest speed yet on the treadmill (to burn off that crumb of chocolate I ate). Tomorrow I have a business luncheon at a bar-b-q place ... after all, what else do you eat in Memphis except good ole Memphis Bar-B-Q, eh? Tomorrow's vows may be tougher after that lunch! I expect you to be able to proudly boast of no eating past 7:00 tonight when the daylight breaks tomorrow! DeeDee

LOL, the "guilt" factor works so well with me. I don't want to fail and Id feel too GUILTY about fibbing to you in the morning. Uh, that being said? The CREATIVE side of my "chunky brain" wants to know if I wait until 12:01 am to have something to eat, does that mean I broke my vow or fulfilled it? lol, afterall, that IS a NEW day!

You're as bad as me... I never "break" the rules, but being the Rebel Mississippian that I am I sure will bend them as far as they'll go! Go to bed at 11:59 PM and that should be the end of that question. DeeDee

p.s. And no crackers (food) in bed --- they leave messy crumbs! DD
