I agree Darlene--anesthesiologists are the most important person in the OR. That is what is making me really concerned about the plastics--6 hours under is more than 3 times as long as my RNY.

Hey Darlene I got lucky with my anest.....I had the same one for my emergency surgery 3 days after my wls as I had for the original wls surgery. He was pretty cool and remembered me quite well from earlier in the week. Honestly, I would say that it was a good thing since he already knew my history and me and calming for me as well since his was a familiar face in the midst of my own personal "terror" of the unknown of a second surgery. Great question to think about today. Have a super weekend...Cap'n K-Man

My BIL is an anesthesiologist and he "vetted" my guy on the phone! He actually called this doctor and said, "You're doing my SIL's surgery and..." whatever they say to each other. I thought he was sweet but figured the other anesthesiologist understood his concern. As my BIL always says, they don't get paid the big bucks to put you to sleep - they get paid the big bucks to wake you up. BTW, my BIL listens to the Grateful Dead during surgery whenever he can...if I didn't know him, I think I'd be a little worried to have a Dead Head putting me to sleep...oops...waking me up. Good post! This is an interesting topic. Judi

As I said to the anesthesiologist who did my two plastic surgeries, the surgeon gets all the glory but the anes. is the guy who keeps me breathing, so he's my new best friend.... Hugs, Connie
