JoAnn in Boston, Kim O., Celtic Rose, & others in the Boston Northshore area?
JoAnn in Boston, Kim O., Celtic Rose, & others in the Boston Northshore area?
OK Ladies,
This time when I come to the Boston area
I'm gonna Pre-schedule us a Visit.
Sort of a "Boston Tea Party!"
Now since I'm designing "The Full Monty,"
I have an idea.
If you know the movie,
Then you have a good idea of the Musical.
Yes, Men Strip (all the way) in the Finale.
The set (my baby) is designed
For some audience members to actually
Be part of the "onstage audience."
Sort of playing the role of the audience of women.
The seating areas for this are mostly
Occupied by the women in the cast,
But there are about 6 seats
That will be occupied by actual audience members.
See where I'm going?
I was up working tonight on the set (still am)
Figuring out how to get a car onstage, quickly,
When the idea hit me.
What if I get tickets (on me certainly) for you Gals
And we make a Full Evening of it?
Diner somewhere up near Beverly before the show
And then well hit opening night
And give you the Best seats in the house?
I'll be in the back biting my nails as usual for an Opening night.
NorthShore Music Theater is set to reopen
(restored after the recent fire) With this production.
October 25th is the tentative date right now,
But by the end of this week the Producers
Plan to make the final announcement
Of the Opening Night Date.
(They're dealing with contractors to make Certain the Theater will be ready.)
It sounds far "racier" than it is actually.
It's a very fun show that won loads of Tony awards
A few years back. Great script, Super Music.....
So? Thoughts? I'll actually be up there this time
Starting around October 17th if the Opening Date is in fact the 25th.
I'll have my assistants with me for this one
So If I need to "duck out" and cruise down to Boston
Earlier that week, I've got the support to do that.
The last time I was there Back at the first couple of weeks in July
You may know that the show had its Opening Night,
The Audience leaped to their feet and gave "Cinderella"
A Big Ole Standing Ovation, and then, Once everyone
Had left the Theater, around Mid-Night (strangely enough)
A fire broke out and "gutted" the place!
There are some photos of the show that only one audience got to see at-
http://www.nsmt.org/calendar/showdetailpage.cfm?id_show=47390259
It's mostly close-up of the Actors standing in the way of Great Scenery
The shots were taken at the Tech rehearsal even before
Everything was finished.
So the last show in the Theater and the First to Open the
Newly renovated Theater are both mine.
They're bringing "Cinderella" back next season with sort of a -
"Cinderella, out of the Cinders!!!" sort of promotion.
Well now on to "Full Monty."
Ideas? Throw some dates my way through e-mail
And we'll see when most of us can get together.
If I need to reserve some seats for a Gals Opening Night Party!"
I'll need to let the producer know by the end of next week.
Or we can "Downtown Boston" as well.
Talk to you soon...
Best Wishes-
Dx
Hi Dx HiJack (sorta)
I love it when you show the set design that you do! Fabulously creative! I have a few friends that are involved in a local theatre (small theatre but highly creative & energized programs on a shoestring budget) that do a wonderful job. I am always in awe of the transformation that they can accomplish.
They are presently working on Le Miserables (? I think I spelled it wrong) and just wrapped up on Tommy & The Laramie Project.
If you are ever in NJ let me know and I would love to invite you & yours to one of their community presentations. Kind of like a STAR guest. & of course anyone else from the board that would like to attend is truly welcome.
The work I have seen you show is truly spectacular.

Linda,
Yes, they have an Educational Division
That does shows with the Kids,
Besides their Main Stage.
This year, while Cinderella was opening
The Education Department
Was finishing up a production of "Mulan,"
And then they did a kid's version
Of Disney's "Aida."
Out of that group of children actors, they
Cast many of the children that were in this
Production of Cinderella.
Small world...
Best Wishes-

Hi DX & JoAnn,
Sounds good to me.
October 25th is my real birthday not rebirthday!!!!
I can just picture JoAnn up on stage with the cast.
Whatever night or afternoon you choose will be fine with me.
Let's see just how many of "us" we can recruit.
Keep me posted.
As you say choosing a restaurant in that area will be hard so many good choices.
