Which makes me ponder 2 things... 1) When I ate 3 pounds of ribs, what happenned to the protein in 2.70 pounds of them? 2) The "muscle milk" protein powders consistently have 50+ grams of protein... Are these guys exempt from the rule, or is it that they don't have the reputation for being, well, shiniest penny in the jar, and don't know better? And on to other things: Does not absorbing the protein over 30gm necessarily mean we don't absorb the calories or other nutrients? Or does it mean that the protein, as a building block, doesn't absorb? Did your studies indicate HOW they decided only 30gm was absorbed? Did they feed them 60, then examine the stool? ----- This is interesting stuff... In Runners World recently, they talked about Energy drinks (like Gatoraid) during endurance events, and they found that such drinks with protein seemed to work better (contrary to current theory). The problem with the studies, is protein = more calories, so is it the extra calories? They try using a control group with x carbs, then a group with x carbs + y protein... but they get more calories that way, not a fair comparison. By the same token, if they have equal calories, they have to reduce the carbs, again not a fair comparison. Bottom line is... This stuff is complicated to even study completely. Tek

You said,"I read two nurses, Yes, Real Nurses, Tell others that they could not add protein powder To any food to be cooked, because the heat of cooking Would destroy and negate the protein. " okay!!!!!!!!!!!! I probably was one of the REAL nurses you are talking about here. I was going by what my protein label says or rather, the one I used to use says and also by what my nut says. Nurses have one short sememster class on nutrition and i don't remember anything in my class about this. However, I don't remember getting upset at the person posting the question. i suppose I'll go back to lurking on this board also. Have a wonderful day handsome!!!!!!!!!!

Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Tasteless is optimized and can be used in cooking. The label states that and I have talked to the manufacturer aslo. It is the only one that I know of that can be used above 130 degrees F. Darlene

PH I love reading your posts; such intelligence along with with and humor. This is particularily (sp) interesting to me because I have always wanted to debunk the chewing gum thing. My surgeon TELLS us to bring chewing gum to the hospital so we can keep our mouth moist. I still chew gum and Im not horrified at the thought of or worried about swallowing it. So, thats my story and Im stickin to it! Joyce

No Jane. Just the first to Blurt it out! I'm sure there is a stalker searching the web for him even now. We may have to pop him in a basket made of "Bull-Rushes" And float him out into the nile! Best Wishes- Dx

That's going to suck. With my lower body fat composition, I am less likely to float So when the board police ask, tell them I am my evil twin, It works on daytime TV, so it ought to work around here as well. PH/NoWhereMan/Jay
