Grads? PLEASE! Sorry, Ranting Vent
Suzy,
I'm truly not trying to drag the old RNY vs DS struggles
From the main Board to this one.
Just hoping that folks who are succeeding at their journeys will
Balance the constant posts I continue seeing -
"THEY'll never able to eat like a human again..."
"Spending their lives measuring out THEIR meals in ice-cube trays..."
"Un-able even to chew gum for the rest of THEIR lives..."
"Never being able to taste a beer again as long as THEY live..."
"...A life of daily vomiting, THEY might as well been bulimic!"
"After one year of loosing THEY gain it back anyway...."
As one of the "THEY,"
Who has none of those problems,
It strikes a nerve.
My problem with that particular post
Was when a person was asking for specific Protein Supplement advice
They were told that if they would only "choose correctly"
They wouldn't have to worry about protein.
It seems more than disingenuous
And an outright dose of mis-information.
Looking back through some of that particular person's posts-
One finds-
Response from "*****" at 3:02 PM PST on 08/15/2005
"Don't worry overmuch abut the protein"
And to yet another-
Response from "*****" at 11:22 AM PST on 08/11/2005
"I've had NO complications, .... my bloodwork has been excellent."
But then when these statements are compared to comments
From the same person's profile-
From "*****" -profile 8/17/2004 -
"My bloodwork ...---my liver enzymes were a bit elevated....
My pre-albumin was a trifle low,
but all they suggested was that I try to eat a bit more protein."
Clearly this person has known since 8/2004 that
Even with her particular procedure, she must get more protein
Or else have albumin problems.
Why then would she say The EXACT Opposite in order to steer someone
To a particular procedure?
In fact mis-lead them entirely?
That, I would consider "Way Harsh."
I likewise have enjoyed my share of bacon,
But I wouldn't recommend it as an alternate to a protein supplement
When a newbie is requesting information about Protein suppliments.
And I certainly wouldn't Lie, in order to promote any procedure.
Such a position of mis-information,
And support For Such, clearly is a point
Where we (albeit, respectfully)
Couldn't Disagree More.
Best Wishes-
Dx
you said, ""After one year of loosing THEY gain it back anyway...." Well, let me tell you a story. I didn't sleep well at all last night. I had a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I woke up, I was shaking and panicky. I dreamed I had gained back up to 188lbs!!!!!!!! I saw my self the way I looked at that time. I am really short so I looked like the Goodyear Blimp!!!!!!!!! Course in my NIGHTMARE, I was on the phone to my surgeon as soon as I got off the scale and quit looking in the mirror. I have gained about 12 lbs lately but because I needed to. It has been on my mind that I might just keep going up. You know that's what we always did before. hope I sleep well tonight. I sure need it!!!!!!!!!!
