Bless your heart you poor thing... I just don't think you have it in you to be a cyber southern belle.
Besides, who would I have around here to gasp in horror and feign shock if I didn't have your uniquely Bostonian mannerism posts?! Perish the thought and you just keep being yourself!

Hi Dx!
I always read your posts as they are right on target and enjoyable! Thanks.
Just a note about this, I realized a long time ago that there are people who enjoy imposing their personal decisions on other people and gosh forbid if you do not agree. I know specifically what you are talking about and find the way the poster(s) un-relentlessly push their one sided opinions on others to be in poor taste. If you also post and offer your insight, which so happens not to agree, you are verbally slammed against a wall. It is my feelings and determination that this is a lot like being prejudice. I mean those of us who have had surgery, regardless of which type, are now being lumped into groups of "x" types. There are posters who are consistently argumentative. They ostracize us and we are disregarded as unknowing and poor individuals who did not have the "superior" type of surgery. Forgive the association, but it is almost Nazi-like in approach. And, my favorite is when there is a call out to the "squad" to go to a specific post because the poster needs information. I have seen someone be re-directed to a specific post to offer their valuable information only to cause upset and lead the post into another direction as the other responses are slammed. This is counter productive.
It is my sincere desire to offer support and to encourage people to make their own path according to their research. I refuse to buy into the concept the one type is better than another and will not be persuaded to do so as there are numerous factors that could have bearing on which surgical type is best for a person.
I also feel that most of us have been subjected to hostility, stereotyping, and prejudice as MO people and to have people do the same after surgery based on our thoughts and surgery type is in poor taste. I am not an authority on anything. I will try to offer my sincere reflections with hopes that it helps others, being mindful of the impact of my words. Others should try to do the same.
Sorry for the rant but this is something that has been bugging me as well and I have stopped frequenting the MB because of it. I hope that it doesn't start to appear here. I like this board a lot and the support is fantastic.
Ok, let the email flaming begin.... there will be some..... I will don my teflon/Asbestos undies now.........
Thanks DX, you are a very insightful person
Val~
Val,
You're a sweetie!
Yep,
That "running back to home base"
And calling out your own gang
To come and Post to someone
Out on the main-board is SO icky.
Some poor pre-op with a simple question
is suddenly besieged with replies from people
Who haven't visited the main-board since the
Last time on of "the Gang" called for "Back-Up."
I've actually seen them post-
"Calling for Backup!"
Like a creepy version of the Reno 911 cops.....
Sorry to have ranted on,
I'm sure it'll just stir up crap
But my hope is to find some balance to
This "Pre-Existing Crap."
Joining you in wearing my asbestos undies,
Even though mine got "in a wad" yesterday!...
Best Wishes-
Dx
Hi Dx!
Hey, I've just about all but given up on my original support boards on AOL. The newbies are calling the old-bies "know-it-alls" because they are all blowing sunshine up each other's butts and we are trying to put a realistic spin on things (ie: no, eating chips and candy and ice cream is not a good idea, even if you are only eating a small portion every night).
Maybe you should stay off the main board for a while... you don't want that blood pressure to go through the roof!!

Ya know, there is so much bad or false info on the main board that it is riduculous. They don't want to hear from the people "in the know". I replied to a post on there last night telling someone that their appendix is on the right side not the left. First thing this morning I recieved an email, while not really rude, was correcting me sharply. They said, "Trust me, I know about the gallbladder being on the right side but the appendix is on the left." Apparently, that person did not know I am an R.N. I quickly and to the point(you know me) corrected her and let her know that I do not even reply to posts unless I am sure of what I am talking about . i also copied and pasted for her what my medical books say. Do ya think I convinced her that her appendix is on the lower right side? LOL
