I can't believe that anyone would think that of you. I can say from experience that y'all have been nothing but a help to me, even if I rarely have posted in the last couple years (more in the last week than all combined for 2 years I think). Without you and so many others that paved the road before me I don't think I could have gotten through the last almost 2 years. You have all been and continue to be such an inspiration to me. Don't stop being who you are, don't stop shouting from the mountain tops, don't stop being you. Who would be you if you weren't you? (I think I need more caffeine) Hugs always... Fanny

Lei, First off - BIG SQUEEZIE HUGS! You're an awesome rooter, and don't let the words of one jeerer get you down. Second - never forget the power of denial. Some folks tell themselves that they can't do anything - and they feel that daily hopelessness. They are locked in a mental prison which is even more restrictive than their SuperMorbid Obesity. You seem to have come up against one person trapped thusly - and you challenged her world view - you implied that nothing's impossible - and that kind of hope is terrifying to someone in jail. She won't want to believe its true because then she'll come to realize that she's the one who put herself in that pit of dispair. Recovering from obesity is a long haul, and try not to let someone's a-ha moment of discovery turn into you hurting yourself over it - keep on doing what you're doing. You're helping more than you know. Remember - the truth isn't always pleasant - which is why we've all been given our own board to keep us old trolls from scaring the newbies too bad ~Lara -212@goal

Wise man say: Better to be pissed off than Pissed On! *hugs* lei I agree with others. You touched some in those posts ..and cancelled out the ignorant ones lol... screw em ... and NEVER eat Yellow Snow! Now lets pause for a few "on the light side jokes" -----------------Folks- Dont try this at home!----------- Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Your heart is good for only so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap. ____________________________________ Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products. ____________________________________ Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up! ____________________________________ Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have a body and you have body fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc. ____________________________________ Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good ____________________________________ Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you? ____________________________________ Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach. ____________________________________ Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy? HELLO .... Cocoa beans ... another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around! ____________________________________ Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me. ____________________________________ Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape! ____________________________________ Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. And remember: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - strawberries in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming - WOO HOO! What a Ride!"

Know know. I learned a lesson the other day from my friend who is a size 0. She is so sensitive about her weight. She does try to stay that weight, never being bigger than a size 5. But she told me that she is ridiculed all the time and lost friends because she is small. That people always make negative comments to her. I can so understand how she feels. I do my best to not offend her in any way. Bottom line is, no matter if we are small or big, we seem to have the same demons sometimes. Joanne
