I'm official! I can join the one-year post op board today!
Today is my one-year anniversary....It's hard to believe a whole year has passed.
I've lost 125 pounds -- and gone from a 22/24 dress size and 3X tops
that were tight, to Size 10-12 (an occasional 8) and size medium
tops.
What a difference a year makes!
Earlier in the week, I was talking with a lady that I knew in
passing. She looked at my name badge at work and said, "Why don't I recognize you? Have you lost a lot of weight?" I sometimes forget that I look very different.
Yesterday, a co-worker asked if I do it all again. Without
hesitation, I answered, "Absolutely."
For the first time in my life, I feel healthy. I can take the stairs
without having to stop three times because I'm winded. When we go to
Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio over Labor Day, I know I'll fit in the rollercoaster seats. I don't feel like I'm an embarassment to my teen-age daughter around her friends. I love to buy clothes in the regular person's section. I've never been small before -- even when I was a child.
Of course, I've realize that maintaining my weight loss is going to
be hard work too. It's all about choices, and not slipping back into old ways. I wish I was one of those people who don't have to worry about gaining weight back, but I'm not. Each day will be a new challenge, but I'm ready to meet it head on.
Thanks for all your support over the past year. I couldn't have done
it without all of you!
A healthier and happier Joni

Joni,
You look wonderful and sooo happy! Congratulations-- this surgery is such a blessing but yes we must continue "working it" all our lives. I have found this grad board very good for me so hope you keep coming and posting. Isn't it funny to think about a generation of us wls babes and how our health will be down the road etc.
Have a great day! Lucy
