3 Little Questions.......
Hi Guys!
Need help from the pro's on three things that I have been struggling with........ those being......
1. Can low carbing make you nuts? I heard & am kinda thinking it is a truth that cutting back on your carbs can interfere with your mental sharpness. Can anyone confirm?
2. What is your favorite low cal/low carb crunchy salty snack (chips substitute).
3. What is your favorite low cal/low carb sweet snack? (sorry ~ disclude the shakes I can't do them~)
I have been on track for a while but these three things have been questions that I frequently ask myself... I would love your input
Many thanks!!!

Well first of all..low crab didnt make me crazy because I didnt look at it as low carb..,
I looked at and still do look at it as protein first..carb last!
It doesnt make me foggy..but I do eat good complex carbs.
my fave low carb snack is pepperoni chips, whole cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, monterey jack) cheeses and crisps.,.glenny bbq soy crisps..lkean deli turkey..roast beef..plain ground beef with a tbsp or two or low carb ketchup..there are sooo many choices these days.
My fave low carb snack of all time..deviled eggs..hands down..chick full of protein..goiod fats and oh so yummy..oh and filling!
Too funny Val--I really don't have an answer to number one--but would love to have an excuse for my mental dullness--Oh wait that started b4 surgery.
#2--my favorite low carb/crunch snack is the cheese crisps I make with Boars head monteray jack cheese--nuked in the microwave and blotted dry with paper towels. Chips=Satan for me
#3--I love fruit--grapes, cherries, watermelon, peaches--not really low carb but the kind of carbs I allow myself. I find the protein drinks really helpful in that regard too--plus I like the power crunch bars.
Hi Lynda,
I know #1 sounds funny but I swear when I really cut back my mind gets Foggy for some reason. I was thinking that there is a connection between it for some reason.
Chips are also evil to me, I like the cheese crisps idea. I will try that one!
Fruit is another story..... I have tried all sorts of fruit and when I eat it I am fine for a little bit but once it hits the bottom of my GI tract its not happy with me..... That has been my biggest dump thus far... cantelope got me.... ok, I admit I am afraid to do that again ok, I am a scaredy kat....
thanks for your great tips... cheese crisps here I come.

Low carbing CAN cause mental fogginess, confusion, mental alertness, etc. I am not against low carbing. Low carbing is what I have been doing BUT...I did go to the doc for the same problems of mental fogginess, etc. I was at the point that I couldn't or shouldn't be driving. That is how bad it got. Once I added the carbs back, ie: fruits and veggies. My brain got back to normal. I hope this helps some. There IS a direct coorelation.

#1 - I believe it! I am fuzzy all the time, but I was fuzzy BEFORE surgery!
#2 - I love pork skins (very low carb), and I love pepperoni crisps!
#3 - I probably enjoy fat free choc. fudge popsicles more than any other snack. The brand I buy is Nestle. I just noticed that the popsicles have 11 grams of sugar. I also enjoy sugar free choc pudding with fat free Cool Whip. I wish you the best!
Hugs and happiness, Tammy
I pretty much stayed on less than 30 grams of carbs for 18 months. I'm an accountant and haven't seen where it interfered with my mental capacity or alertness.
As for snacks I really didn't do them much. When I reached a point I couldn't resist chocolate another day I'd eat a couple of pieces of sugar free candy. Watch the calories though just because they are no sugar doesn't mean they aren't loaded with calories.
Now that I've reached goal I eat the Power Crunch bars which at least add 14 grams of protein to my day.
