4th Year WLS Anniversary
Hi there Linda. Happy Rebirthday to you girl. You have come a long way baby. Can I ask you some things from a long post op point of view?
1) are you still as sensitive to cold as you were early post op after losing your fat paddling? I have heard that gradually that wls pts get less "cold" more normal adjusted. This summer was awesome for me. Didn't "heat" up like I use to and kinda hope I stay just like this. Course I do get "cold" easier as well ... but just curious if after 4yrs you are the same.
2) do you still dump or do you think over time WLS pts can reprogram the body to take in more sugar w/o dumping if they force their bodies with higher sugar intakes? --> no Im not doing that so far but curious if it could be possible down the post op road. I do know my first WLS I coudn't do cokes after surgery... but after forcing myself and feeling uncomfortable at first when drinking them ... making my tummy feel uncomfortable... well I finally got adjusted to cokes and guzzled them down for the next 12yrs. I wont do cokes again with this WLS for that reason but now I worry about sugars... if I were to abuse them.
Just curious as normal....

Hi Deb,
I have noticed recently that I'm not as sensitive to cold. I still love the summer though. I could actually go swimming this year for the first time since surgery. In the first couple of years post-op, the water was too cold for me (unless it was the hot tub!)
You can build up a resistance to sugar. If I'm really off the wagon and eating whatever I want (Christmas last year for example, not a good month!) I could eat a good bit of sugar before dumping. When I'm "on" the wagon though (avoiding white carbs), it takes much less.
