i have a question for you long timers..... i have been losing my hair and i am not sure why. i take my vitamins, i have to because after having my blood clot this past year we found that i was severly anemic. anyway, lately, my hair has been falling out like alot when in the shower and i find it very disturbing. i was wondering if this could be a condtion of tyroid disease maybe? any insite would be greatly appreciated. tracey

Tracey--I find that whenever I slack off on my protein I start losing my hair again. It is a symptom of thyroid disease also.

i have been eating my protein requirements and i drink protein shakes daily as well. i did have a regular tyroid test done but it came back negative. i have had such a hard time losing this weight it is making me crazy. can anyone tell me if there is another test that can tell you if you have a thyroid condition that i can request my doctor to perform? with my hair falling out and my weight just being soo slow i really think i am having a medical problem. tracey

I have to do 120 grams supplemented protein, alone with some Omega-3's....we need a bit of fat (oil) in our system also. I like avocado, or a bit of mayo for that. Darlene

If it was me, I would want a zinc level done...as well as getting my protein levels checked (total protein, albumin and prealbumin). ~KD in WA

Hi Tracey, I am about 6 1/2 yrs post op.   I do find still that I will lose hair once I  realize I have consistantly screwed up my protein levels.  Once I see the hair in the drain, its a wake up call for me to stop slacking and up my protein levels.    As I have learned and continue to learn, you have to always follow the rules as close as you can in order for your body to like you! take care Lynne
