On the main board, every few days we see the irrate post of a person 1-3 months post-op that had their restaurant card refused and/or were embarrassed. Some people feel Restaurant Cards are good, others bad, and both sides have seemingly reasonable arguements. We know the debate.
Ok, now we're 1+ years out from surgery... How do you feel about Restaurant Cards NOW?
If you wanna get rowdy, please do it within TOS.

I'm really far postop..Never ever considered using a Restaurant Card and never will in the future.
I dont feel any restaurant owes me anything except good service..and whether or not people are allowed to use a card doesnt fall into a service category for me.
Lord knows I ate way more than I paid for preop..I just order a salad or something I can take home with me or share with my dog
I'm normal now..I dont need any special treatment...I mean we did this to be treated normally right?
I just dont understand why people feel restaurants owe them anything..I know if they asked me to pay for more than my share preop I would have been horrified.
I just dont get it
With regards to buffets, what's really changed? I pay a fixed price for all I can eat, right? Because "all I can eat" has changed does not invalidate the offer made. If I don't think $X is worth the little bit I can eat, I don't do it!
Time for folks to quit whining, enjoy and utilize their newfound reduced capacity and snow some respect to those people who are trying to make a buck in the food business. Who put a gun to their head to have WLS or to get to an all-you-can eat establishment? After all, there's more to living on the losing side than just a reduction in weight and single-digit size clothes, eh?
Still living in my Nowhere Land...

Hi Tek,
I think that the restaurant cards are one of the stupidest concepts that anyone ever came up with. I don't know why people think that a restaurant owes them anything at all. I've never seen, for example, a diabetic ask for sugar to be left out of a serving and then expect their bill to be lower because they were getting less of something than someone else. On the other hand, I have never seen some one charged double because they ate like a lumberjack.
I would be totally embarrased to even attempt to use a restaurant card. I enjoy getting the meal that I want and, if there are leftovers, enjoying them again for another meal. I go out for the friendship and conversation and, frankly, enjoying a meal that I didn't have to cook
Have a good day!

I asked for a restaurant card about 6 months post-op and my surgeon gave me one that stated: "This woman had WLS and she came unzipped. She can eat like a normal overweight person so charge her double for all-you-care-to-eat buffets!" Needless to say I didn't use the card.
