My personal program is one of no refined sugar. I have been called nice names like Food Nazi as well. It works for me, and I don't try to tell anyone else how to run their program. I'm praying I don't experience weight regain - but I measure my success not in lbs on the scale, but true lean/fat ratio measured in hydrostatic weighing (underwater weighing). I've been able to watch my losing process and know exactly how many of my lbs were lean vs fat. If I gain a few lbs of muscle from my working out - then so be it. But if I start gaining fat, I will put myself in check. I plan on getting underwater weighed ever 6-12 months from now on. I also get basal metabolic testing done at the same time to ensure that I know how many calories my body requires for fuel. Its amazing to learn that I actually have quite a high metabolism. With my exercise endevors - I'm learning to become a runner - some days its hard to get in enough calories. (who'd have ever thought this could be true?). I've babbled enough - but my point is this - stay strong and tell it like it is. Without people like you, people pretend that they were failed by the surgery when in fact. . .they failed their surgery. Wishing you the best, ~Lara -212@goal

Wow Lara...good for you...I'd be afraid to try that underwater weighing...I'd hate to find out my little body is 98% fat. Instead of 98% fat free...hehe. One day at a time....thats what I do.... Hugs Charlie

Congratulations on maintaining your weight for 3 years. Like you I've decided a 5 lb rule is the only way for me to keep the weight off. I've been in the habit of weighing on Sunday only so I will stick to that rule. I just started maintenance a couple of weeks ago so right now I'm struggling with increasing the calories, but can already see how easy it would be to let too many calories creep into my food plan. Like you fast foods and sweets could be my downfall so they will be relagated to an occasional treat. Best of luck for your continued success.

Hey Pat....good for you. Stick to that 5 pound rule and weigh regularly and you'll be fine. Today is a busy day so I tend to want to snack...but I'm trying to be good....so I think I'll go have a shake instead... Hugs Charlie

Thank GOD in heaven(oops I guess I can do that on your thread) for the food NAZI's and Food POLICE. When I first came here, at 6 months out mind you I did NOT have a clue. I think I was destined to sure gain back if I had of NOT came here to OH. When you guys who had gone before me spoke by god I listened. I figured yall had already been there and done that and knew what you were talking about. I do occasionally eat a refined sugar, only on special occasions and only a very small amount. For exapmle I had a small piece of blackberry cobbler that was fully loaded on Sunday at my grandmas first time I have had a treat like that in months. But I dont eat bread anymore, I dont drink pop or any other carbonated beverage, I dont gorge myself anymore, or eat just to have somthing in my mouth. My relationship with food has totally changed, Instead of living to eat, I now eat to live. It has made a huge difference in my life. I dont eat empty calories like crackers and chips anymore. If people think I am a food police or food nazi, then maybe they better look at my success and my before and afters and decide what they want to do with their tool. Im getting to be a hard ass arent I?? LOL Hugs Teresa
