Bounce Back Weight

I've been reading a lot about this lately. One posted that her surgeon said there would be a 10% regain. EGADS. Why? Is that what a lot of folks are struggling with? I said in the beginning I would NOT go back. And so far I've held it down. I have faced the fact that my body will not allow me to get to a decent goal weight and stay there. I have to work at it. And work hard. I am right now 5 pounds over goal....137 going back to 132 which is goal for me. On the main board I have been called a Food Nazi and the Food Police and I have recieved some pretty harsh emails. One even disguised as an 'official' from OH. I have some strong opinions and a determined attitude. I KNOW what puts weight on my butt. And it has to do with fast food and sugar. So thats what I monitor. I also know that avoiding the scales is a death trap for me. I am dieting now to keep myself within 5 pounds of goal at all times. There is a really good article in the September issue of Family Circle magazine. The article is A-Z guide to weight loss. Some real eye opening stuff....for instance....100 calories a day over what we burn can result in a 10 pound gain in a year....(soooo might wanna watch those little 100 calorie packs of high calorie high fat snacks).......and did you know that it really DOES NOT matter when you eat....you will not gain weight if you eat at night! And people who skip breakfast are 450 times more likely to be obese....HELLO. Eat breakfast! This is a good article...not the usual fluff. Good tips. So...if you are stuggling with gain....don't despair....it happens to all of us. We just have to be determined NOT to allow it back in our lives. And weigh yourself...keep track of where you are. Its the ONE thing I count on to keep myelf at goal. My 3 year anniversary is September 9th. And I feel good that I am still within 5 pounds of my goal....I still wear a size 6/8 and I am still DETERMINED as ever. Hugs from the beach Charlie

I'm with you, Charlie!! I got eight pounds over my lowest weight and got my rear in gear and got most of it off. I keep pretty much within 5 pounds of my lowest weight. I weigh every day of the world!! Like you, I'm determined not to be a victim of bounce back weight. But it's not easy, I work at it! Hugs, Connie

Hey C : There ain't nothing but a good pot of any Cajun cooking. Somebody asked me one day can you cook. I said yeah why do you think I needed WLS Ha. You know you can eat the way we do down here and still lose after WLS. It just takes some discipline. You keep on being my food Nazi I don't mind. You've done an awesome job and are an inspiration to a lot of us. You have a great day. The cajun

Hi Charlie, Great post... I do worry about gaining... I hope that I have enough will power to keep it off... I found sugar and I test it several times a week... so far I do keep up with the weighing myself, I do it every few weeks ... so far so good, I do great for the most part, but every time I have lost I have put it back on and that always staying in the back of my mind... I just have to keep telling my self that I love wearing these 4/6 and that 26/28 IS NOT AN OPTION Kiwani

Come on, Charlie, tell it like it is. I quit posting on the main board because I was insulted one time too many - it seems that these days, the newbies don't want to hear the truth. It's virtually impossible not to lose at first but that won't last forever. I know. The really sad thing is that is a lot of them have a huge regain, not 10 or so pounds but a lot more, it's just fuel for the insurance companies to say the surgery doesn't work. Folks, the surgery work - the hard cold truth is that we have to work too. Patty

Yes Patty...you are so right. I have been soured on the main board for a long time because of the same things. I also found so many asking questions they should either know from research or could easily google. There are folks out there who have gained back ALL the weight. My old boss has gained back over 100 pounds.... But you can't tell them. I don't even try anymore. As for me...I'm still a work in progress. I worry about it all the time. So I just take it one day at a time....and do the best I can. We do have to work at it....and so I do. Hugs to you Charlie
