Today I vow to: ? eat fewer than 1200 calories with a minimum of 60 grams protein ? drink a minimum of 100 ounces of water ? work in our flowerbeds for exercise ? treat myself to a nice Saturday afternoon nap! I kept my vows yesterday, I had 910 calories, 76 grams protein, 104 ounces of water and almost 3 hours working in the yard for exercise. How did you do with your vows yesterday and what are you vowing to do today? DeeDee (who's only 6 pounds from the Century Club!!)

Good Job DD! I need to commit my calories at some point but am not willing to do that right now. I definitely eat more than I should and still want to lose another 30 pounds or so. Baby steps I am taking I guess. I kept my vows from yesterday. Today I will take a 20 minute walk with the dog, drink 8 glasses of water and do 2 more piles in my office room. (It has been a thorn in my side for a long time and something I have been procrastinating on for way too long.) I work 8:30-5:30 today so it is gonna be an effort to make myself walk this evening. I was gonna go this am but am running out of time. Have a great day!! Lucy

I absolutely understand the ability to overwhelm yourself with too many committments up front. I always tend to sabotage myself when I try to make too many improvements all at once. I really want you to post tomorrow that you did your walk tonight. I have found that exercise of any type is the one sure way to keep things going for me. Good luck to you today and have a fabulous weekend. DD

I did it I did it!! I kept my vows yesterday 100%!! I got alot of walking in yesterday. I went to visit my husband at his last day at work (He transfered to TX so we are moving). He works for GM here in Lansing making the Cadillacs. I must say I was impressed on my tour of the place. The place is HUGE. So I got alot of walking in there and shopping. Ok todays vows.... Drink more fluids. Take all my vitamins. No snacking. Thanks DeeDee for doing this post. It sure helps. Hugs, Connie

Yipee!! Good for you, Connie! Isn't it exciting to be able to stick to your plan and post that you did it? This post is more incentive for me than y'all can possibly imagine. I find myself chugging down that last bit of water or forcing myself to complete my exercise for the day or avoiding those extra calories I think I really want and it's all because I don't want to have to admit I didn't keep my vows. I'm glad it's helping you too. Good luck to you today and I look forward to you posting another positive day's results tomorrow! And now I'm heading out to do yard work before it gets too unbearable outside. DD

Wow, Christy, you're awfully close to your goal. Good luck on the rubber pool and the house full of boys. Has anyone ever told you that you'll miss them when they're gone? Well... they lied! I'm really teasing but I am kind of enjoying the empty nest syndrome. TJ and I are doing lots of fun things together in this inbetween time ... the child is gone (married for 3 years & 28 years old) but no grandkids yet. She's warning me that next summer is the summer they start trying so I'm going to enjoy this last phase of no kids for at least a year longer. Good luck on your vows today. Our church fed the teachers at one local school yesterday while they were all setting up for the new year. It made me kind of envious I didn't have kids to do all that pre-school-starting shopping for. Ah well, won't be long (hopefully****il I can do it with grandkids and then send 'em home! =) DD

Here are my vows for today: Not break down and eat junk food that I don't need because I'm bored. Clean my kitchen and dining room Be good to myself because I deserve it. I'm meeting Connie (ConnieNTX) for lunch at Ghenghis Grill. Can't wait. Connie was the angel who gave me a ride to the convention in Arlington and we get together occsionally. I don't think I've seen her since before Christmas though and I'm excited about catching up with this most successful WLSer. She's a great person and looks fabulous. Patty

Patty, I have always enjoyed reading your posts and even more so as I watch you pull together that spirit of determination to get where you want to be with whatever you do. I've finished part of the yard work for the day. I'm going to run a couple errands then come home and treat myself to a nap. Later this evening I plan to go back out and work some more in the flowerbeds. Knee surgery in May kind of kept me from maintaining them like I normally do and they are really needing some attention! I look forward to hearing you did well and that you and Connie had a great time together. DD

Hey, DeeDee! Here I am--better late than never. We slept in late today and have spent the whole day so far celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary with the family. We had a picnic in the park with the kids, fed ducks, explored, and then went to see "March of the Penguins." We would go out for a romantic evening, but we don't have a babysitter yet in the new city. That's okay--we're having a great time anyway. I did not keep all my vows 100% yesterday, though I did pretty well. I did offer at least two other people genuine and enthusiastic support; I did use FitDay all day; I did drink 80+ oz of water; I did take all my vitamins, and I did do something physically active (I danced with my kids in the living room for about 40 minutes--since my 2 yr old likes me to hold her in my arms while we dance, it's quite a workout! ). The one I didn't keep was snacking on protein instead of carbs. I still did too many carbs and drove the calories up big time. Today, I vow to do the same stuff again: ? Offer at least two other people genuine and enthusiastic support ? Use FitDay to track my eating ? Snack on protein instead of carbs ? Drink at least 80 oz of water ? Take *all* my vitamins/supplements ? Do something (anything) physically active [DONE: Played in the park and explored the hike/bike trail with the kids--did slides, swings, tag, the whole bit. ] Off to a good start so far! I've been too busy and having too much fun to graze today. ---- Leslie
