Nealy, I know what you're sayin...I have put on and taken off 7 pounds since January. I don't know what the major malfunction is. The 7 pounds mostly stays on more than it leaves. I too am in graze mode. I am TRYING sooo bloody hard to get more water in because that helps.

I have gained 25 lbs in the past year. I am at a point now where I have my eating under control. I had to do some real soul searching. I realize that I do have control over what I put in my body and it is up to me and only me not to let food control me. I sort of look at food now like an abusive boyfriend, I get pissed off and say, "no one controls me - I control me!" I never want to be obese again, so that means one thing, I have to to control what I eat and make an effort to exercise- even if it is only 20 minutes every other day, it better than not doing nothing at all. Try to catch yourself when you are about to graze, ask yourself if you are really hungry and if not, do something else like taking a walk, call a friend of the phone, or go run an errand you have been meaning to get done. Hugs

Do you log your food intake on a program like fit day? I find by logging my food it keeps me honest. If I know I've got to log that extra no sugar added fudgecicle I leave it in the freezer. This may not work for anybody else, just my way of keeping myself honest. I'm sure at 18 months and just on maintenance this is easier than it will be a year from now when I begin to see my wls journey as a thing of the past and want to get on with just living. Best of luck to you.

Nealy, i have found myself grazing in the last few weeks, in july I had another infection and got to spend 4 lovely days in the hospital, just laying around and more of the same when I got home, have not been walking in so long. BUT Tuesday my daughter goes back to school and I can get back on a schedule and also not have to be around when she and my 18 year old are eating whatever they want whenever they want. SO Starting Tuesday, I am going to stick to the schedule I have writen in my notebook, and again use fitday DAILY for a while so I can see what I am doing. AND once it gets cooler, I plan of finishing the enclosed patio. it needs a lot of work and it is just too hot right now to do it. so I will be busy and not just sitting around inside trying to stay cool. Nealy, I still have food issues and emotional-eating problems. Exercise is key for me, but I also use the services of a psychologist with experience in food issues. Not everybody needs this but I do. Both of these things keep me in reasonable control. I've fluctuated 8-10# from my lowest weight. Hope you get some relief from your suffering.... Hugs, Connie -147# @ goal

P.S. I also use Fitday.com when I feel like my food/grazing is out of control. And going to support group meetings helps me too. Connie

Nealy, I was in the same boat til I talked with my surgeon. At his suggestion, I quit eating all starchy carbs and when I felt the need to graze, I ate either carrots or cauliflower. I ate a lot of cauliflower for a week and then I noticed that the urge to graze went away. I rarely eat between meals now and when I do, I try to go to the high fiber raw veggies because they keep me satisfied. I will tell you that I'm having a hard time losing the weight I gained - it's coming off very slowly but my surgeon told me to expect it to take up to six months to lose 15 pounds. Be sure you are getting adequate protein and leave off sugar, starches and sugar free candies and cookies and ice cream. Hope this helps you some. Patty

Hi Nealy (great name by the way!) I found the following helpful... 1. Writing things down before you put them in your mouth. 2. take a glass of water before you put the graze food in your mouth 3. Dont buy anything small or that you can rationalize as small and low calorie that can be a grazing food. 4. Think about it this way, "before I eat, I will______" (fill in the blank) 5. Seriously think, when are you grazing, Why are you grazing, and what can you do besides eating? Just my 2 cents... Stella
