Need a little advice from my peers....
Hey there K-man,
I don't have any experience with a hernia, but I wanted to send out my good vibes to you. I do know that you must take it easy, and remember sometimes it just takes so long to heal. Your body heals at the rate it needs to (I know that doesn't help the fact that you thought you should feel better by now).
I do have a suggestion about your moving though. We moved back at the beginning of April (ugh). It was just my husband, myself and our 13 year old doing some of the heavy stuff at first. Now we thought it would be ok, cause when we transported all the stuff we have (meaning heavy furniture and stuff) into the house I was anywhere from 280 to 340 pounds. You know, when you are a heavier person, you can just move around heavier stuff. Well I just couldn't help lift the heavy stuff like I used to. Oh yea, it was raining cats and dogs the day we moved (of course) and the truck we rented leaked.
One of the things that we have decided is that if we ever move again (ugh again) we will hire some day laborers. I'm not sure how it works in your area, but there are individuals that "hang out" down by Home Depot and are looking for work. We decided that it is worth it to get a couple (or even three) individuals to help out for a day or two. That way you are not lifting any of the heavy stuff and you don't risk hurting yourself.
Best of luck to you.
By the way I'm jealous that you get a nap this afternoon.
Hugs
Susan
Hi Ken
I had an umbilical hernia repair 3 months after WLS. It was by far harder to recover from than the WLS. It was more painful and the recovery was just....harder, for lack of a better word. Please don't over-do it and have to extend your recovery or even repair it again. I agree with the person who said "hire day labor" or hire movers just for the big stuff. Hope you feel bette soon.

K-Man,
I hate to tell you this but my hernia repair was two years ago and I still have twinges where the mesh is attached. Seriously, though, it took months for the tenderness to go away - and it was uncomfortable for at least a year.
Those muscles just don't like having the mesh attached. My surgeon warned me about this before the surgery and I thought he was kidding. He wasn't.
