I'm Stuck--Are You?
I started out at 328 and am now down to 199, but have been stuck here and fluctuating back and forth for the last month. I'm scheduled for my TT in November and would like to make it ot 175 before then, and like you guys I'm fighting those old food demons. I've pushed away from the honey wheat pretzels (I love these), increase my protein, and have started running/walking 1.5 miles 4 days a week. I'm also fighting to make sure I get all my fluids in. I absolutely love Tropicana's new sugar free orangeade. I mix it with light cranberry and it's wonderful. Any way, wish me luck.
thx

Thanks Connie, that's a great suggestion. We have a gym right here at work. I've got a friend here that's a personal trainer and fitness instructor (after work he teaches the spinning classes), anyway, I called him and he's willing to help me come up with strenght/weight training program to help me get ready for my upcoming surgery. I'm gonna add this to the running/walking I'm already doing. Thanks again for the info.
thx

328/199 (now) /175 (my goal)
Good luck and I am right with you. I had my surgery same time you did and am trying for the last 15#. This month has been a standstill for me, but I am trying not to deviate from the program and wait the plateau out. Like you I have started walking 1.5-2 miles a day but know I have to add the weight training in. I do know that carbs are evil!!! Try going back to protein, veggies and fruit only. It killed me but I just threw away a new box of Goldfish crackers- you really can't eat just a few!

Thanks Mary, I know what you mean about the goldfish--you can't eat just one. I have a 12 year old and a husband, who just love to snack. So it's always around--I just have to"STEP AWAY FROM THE CARBS" I keep cheese sticks on hand for me. I live on grilled or baked chicken, steak, fish, shrimp, crab salad, and tons of garden salad. I have a salad with chicken or something on top of it everyday for lunch, and I top it with Hidden Valley Ranch Fat Free with a couple of shakes of hot sauce on it (sounds wierd, but its really good).
thx

Me, too. Today is my one-year anniversary, and I've been stuck at about 170 for over two months now. I still have 30-40 lbs to go to get to my goal range. I blame a couple of things: (1) I moved and got thrown totally off my routine. Still haven't joined a gym in the new city and can't afford to do it until we sell the old house. (2) Work-related stress--I'm having to work lots of extra hours to pay two house payments until the old house gets sold. I've been working all hours of the night and day (I work at home as a freelance writer), so I've been grazing a lot and making less-than-perfect choices.
But I can't wait around for that house to sell to get back on track. It's too hot to exercise outside here in Texas, so I think I'm going to unpack the exercise videos and do one every night. I need to cut back on the carbs, too.
At least I'm not gaining--I bounce up and down by 2-3 lbs, but can't break the 170 barrier. I was around 170 for a long time pre-babies, so maybe my body is just comfortable here. I dunno.
Anyway, good luck getting your loss going again, and congrats on your upcoming TT! Someday we'll sell that house and maybe I can start looking into reconstructive surgery.

Hello Georganne... I am with you on this up and down on the scales... I have been at around 170 all summer long... I just keep losing and gaining the same 2 or 3 pounds and it is very frusturating...I am trying to get back on track and up my protien and start walking more... I wish you luck on your tummy tuck.. You will be so pleased with the results... I have had all of my plastics now and it makes such a big difference....I guess we just have to just take one day at the time...Brenda...
Have you tried the Crystal Light Sunrise? It has a taste similar to orange juice and only has 10 calories in 16 oz. I find it refreshing on these hot summer days.
I've been stuck for weeks now too. I was eating 700 calories a day and working out at least 45 minutes a day. 3-4 days a week I worked out twice a day. My surgeons office put me on maintainence and increased my calories (800-1200). I dropped 2 lbs after increasing the calories. Go figure.
Best of luck for your continued success.
