Hi Patty! Boy I have missed your face and wonderful words of wisdom I've been really bad about my protein. I use to get at least 100+ grams a day, but now I don't even count or have a clue how much I'm taking in, but I know it's nowhere near what I need I am still on top of my vitamins and water.....actually decaf iced tea. Ok, slap me. I dont eat breakfast. (But I do swallow all my vits and stuff) Isnt it funny the stuff we have for breakfast these days....not your usual breakfast fare at all. (Not weird to me though...I used to eat popcorn for breakfast...LOL) Joyce

Joyce, I went to Denton Sunday for a wedding - stopped at Sonic and got an order of Cheddar Peppers for breakfast - it was 10:30 but still it was the first food of the day. I have never been a big breakfast food eater and I can't eat first thing in the morning. That's why the protein drinks work so well for me. Patty

Usually my day starts with some fruit and a protein shake....23 grams 90 calories...then I have other days with the peanut butter and rye toast. I dont do that too often...too many calories! I am usually hungry by 10AM. I eat around 7AM. I wish I could make it last longer. Debbie

Debbie, I know what you mean about the peanut butter - I adore the stuff but the calories are way too high so I've given it up. I rarely eat bread - just like the peanut butter off a spoon. But I'd rather wear nice clothes than eat peanut butter Keep up the good work.

Patty, Found this board a little late, But had to drop by and say how Great it is to see you again! So sorry to hear about your ongoing knee pain. Is there a replacement in the works? I was 3rd generation MO, so I have 2 aunts, an uncle And a father who have had knee replacements. My Father had both done in a 2 year period. He says his only regret was not doing it earlier. With very little Physical Therapy, He was up and walking like a champ again, Free from years of pain. Hope you have a "fix" in the future. Best Wishes- Dx

Its funny how we change....in the beginning peanut butter went in everything! I can't believe looking back on food diary I used it so much. Rye bread was the same....it is the best when toasted although I can only eat a little and I am okay with that. But now I feel like I have to retrain to lower calorie items. For the most part everything else I ate were lower in calories just peanut butter. I went to my nut at my yearly visit with hottie surgeon and he did tell me for the most part my food diary was good he could see my snacks on some days needed to be put on a diet. I have been trying to do that now...not too successful with it yet. Its hard.

I do food for breakfast too..I notice that if I don't eat, i'm ravenous by 10-11am. My typical day is : 8am - 1/3 cup of Southwestern Egg Beaters with a smidgen of shredded cheddar or a slice of swiss cheese. I notice that if I go for a piece of toast or some kind of carb i'm hungry again in an hour, so it's always protein first thing in the morning for me. I have 2 cups of coffee too, with equal and a non dairy creamer. I don't do a mid morning snack, because that too seems to "keep me hungry" and I often find myself foraging for food, and usually I want something that isnt good for me. Lunch is usually a salad, some baby spinach with chicken salad (all white meat, a dash of mayo, salt and pepper) with some roasted red peppers, cucumbers, raw mushrooms and shredded cheese. Again, no afternoon snack either..I sav e my "treat" for the evening. Dinner is yet more protein, either half a chicken breast (boneless & skinless) roasted or on the grill or a piece of steak with some steamed veggies, or a salad and sometimes i'll splurge and have half a baked sweet potato (great thing about those is you dont need butter because it gets so sweet and yummy when its baked). In between it's loads of water..I do propel (grape is my fave) or Crystal Lite Lemonade..plain water makes me gag. My evening snack is usually a sugar free Jello cup or on occasion a sugar free pudding cup, or some cut up cantaloupe and honeydew melon. I dont do carbs really, of course sometimes I do..but they makes me feel sluggish and of course, HUNGRY! so I try to not let them pass these lips..though I do struggle with it like everyone else sometimes. I've really tightened my grip on my eating lately, it's very easy to become complacent so far out, but I notice that if I do mainly ALL protein..i'm almost never hungry, much more energized and just feel better overall.
