What's for Breakfast?

After reading Elle's post about what we are eating today, yesterday, I decided to start this one. Folks, we need to start the day with protein. It is really important to set the pace for the rest of the day. So, here we go. What are you having for breakfast? I am sipping on a cup of decaf laced with sugar free caramel syrup AND a serving of ProPlete Gold Chocolate Peanut Butter protein. 120 calories 22g of protein I don't eat lunch til 1:00 PM of later, so I will probably have another protein drink about 11:00. (120 calories; 22g of protein) This helps keep the blood sugar up to normal levels and prevents the urge to graze. Lunch will be salad and 3 ounces of chicken with fat free salad dressing for about 145 calories and another 24g of protein. So, by the time I leave work this afternoon at 4:00, I will have had 385 calories and 68g of protein. I will probably have grilled pork chop and salad for dinner. If I follow this gameplan, I will be able to achieve my vow of being below 1000 calories and will certainly have my required protein for the day. So, all of you who are starting your busy days with just a couple of cups of coffee, get up and have some protein. It's really dangerous to be active and not get protein. I want to remind all of you that protein is important to us for more than weight loss - if we don't get adequate protein, our bodies will consume muscle tissue, inclduding the heart muscle. Doesn't sound good to me. And it's especially important for those of you who are doing a lot of exercise because you need more protein than those of us who tend to be less active. Sorry if I sound preachy - it's just my excitement about the surgery (even 3.5 years out and my concern for longterm health). Patty

Patty, My Cafe Mocha Protein will go in my next cup of coffee.. You know, I still do food in the morning, I don't know why.... but around 11:00 am I get hungry, so will eat some chicken too, I cooked a few extra pieces last night so it is ready for a salad for lunch.... How are you feeling this morning? Are you still sore? You have a great day, and no not preachy..... Love ya

The muscles aren't sore but the knee is still tender - but then it always is. I think the reason I don't really get hungry at work - most of the time - in the morning is that mornings are really busy and they fly by so quickly. The afternoons used to drag but now that I get off at 4:00 it's not so bad. I have lunch at my desk and spend my lunch hour walking - and that is from 1:00 - 2:00. I usually don't have my salad and chicken til after I walk unless I feel really hungry earlier - like yesterday. The deal is that by the time I'm done with lunch, it's almost time to come home so I don't have time for the head hunger to set in when the work slows down later in the day. Now all I have to do is resist temptation between 8:00 PM and whenever I fall asleep. Have a great day and love ya too.

Hi Patty and everyone, This morning I have had a matrix hot chocolate made with one scoop of matrix choc. protein, 2 ounces of carb countdown milk and about 22 ounces of ho****er. This gives me some extra water too. At about 8:00 I will have some ricotta cheese with s/f jelly and splenda this will give me a total of 30 gms of protein for breakfast. I am not trying to loose anymore weight though, just maintaining now. Hugs Teresa

Sounds like you have a good plan to start the day. You are lucky that you are maintaining and not having to try to lose regained pounds. Man, do they slip up on you quickly. Have a great day . P

Patty-I'm travelling so things are a little different for me. I am drinking my coffee now and will add some IDS vanilla-cinnamon to the next cup. In a little while I will have breakfast--it is a buffet. What I do is have them make me one egg and have that on one half piece of dry toast and I have a little fruit with that. Have you tried the IDS vanilla-cinnamon? I really like it lots and it can be added to the decaf coffee (I add a little splenda also) keeping the calories down.

Lynda, Sounds like the early birds have the right idea - we are starting our days out with good, healthy servings of protein. I haven't tried the IDS protein but I hear it's really good. I have to add splenda or sweet and low to coffee when i add protein powder. I have some of the Chocolate Peanut Butter that I'm not wild about but don't want to discard - so I will manage to get it down with the coffee (decaf). I'm just not wild about chocolate protein drinks - I think they probably would be much better with milk but I'm not willing to add the extra calories. Have a great day. P

Sounds like a good plan. I have chicken almost everyday for lunch - people at work think I'm boring. Patty

Morning Patty, I stopped at the WAWA and got me a couple hard boiled eggs for b'fast. Later this morning I plan on a protein drink. Yesterday sucked, started the day with carbs, ended with carbs/sugar.. not doing that again today. Wendy
