Hi Ashley, I was wondering where I might find the shortened version of a progressive post-op diet.  I am about 10.5 years out and have regained 75 pounds.  Your story is very encouraging and I am really hoping to get back on track.  Thanks

Ellen

I had my first surgery in 2001.  Now that I think about it I probably shouldn't have had it then because of all the psychological issues, illness and death of parents and head hunger issues.  I started at 292 and lost only 72 pounds to about 220.  Over the last 14 years I have gained and lost weight getting to my highest ever weight of 317 pounds.  I had many problems with ulcers, end up destroying my teeth from vomiting from trying to eat past the point of fullness to being considered  bulimic and throwing up and trying to binge, I ended up with Barrett's esophagus and a hiatal hernia.  I started getting chest pain and shortness of breath.  I end up having surgery in April and they ended up doing sort of a revision.  I don't notice the restriction because I am mostly on soft foods due to swallowing issues so I track everything I eat on my fitness.  I try to get a little bit of exercise.  I try to make sure I get all my protein in and take all my vitamins.  I don't eat in bed anymore.  I tell myself food is not your friend, not your comfort.  It is just nutrition.  I am determined to succeed this time mostly for health reasons.  The nutritionist told me to eat 3 small meals and 3 snacks, stay between 1200 and 1400 calories, protein first so these are the things I have been trying to do.  It took forever for me to not eat in bed.  That was my worst habit.  I finally managed to break it after 14 years.  I am down about 25 pounds now so I must be doing something right.  I also don't have a lot of friends because I have social anxiety.  Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone and that you can do this.  It just takes the right mindset.  For me I am in that mindset because I want to be healthy.

I lost 165 lbs in 2008 but now I have gotten re hooked on the sugars and cant seem to quite. I just forgot where I cam from and need to get back on track but don't like the things I ate when I was losing the weight in the first place. I need to find things I like to eat that wont put weight back on me.  I hope to hear from you soon

You did the hard part!  You admitted you need to change and you sought help.  Good for you!  How have you been doing since April?

I am trying to stop my regain pattern as well.  I have 20 to lose.  I am going back to the basics of protein and veggies first, no drinking until 30-60 min after eating, increase water to at least 64oz, reduce refined sugar.  It's not easy, but we have this tool that is there to help us if we let it.  I did a version of the liquid diet (just soft foods to remember how my pouch feels) yesterday and lost 3lb water weight.  I am hungrier today, but I am motivated to keep going on the right path.  You are not alone!

This post is giving me a lot of hope and determination to get myself back on track.  I'm 5 1/2 years out and gained back 35 lbs.  my VIT D is very low and was diagnosed with severe anemia last month. Saw my endocrinologist today and got a good scolding for not following up with him and only seeing my PCP.

Now he is sending me back to my surgeon to get back on track and find out what is causing the low iron.

I have all these cute clothes and I'm so mad that they are all so tight now and that I am feeling so tired all the time.  Michelle I would love to be part of support friendship group with you.  I live in Ohio and have no family near me... in fact they live in Mesa, where I used to live 10 years ago.

I too should have stayed on this site and stayed on track.
