hugs.. glad you are back.. sorry about your mother and your sister..

The weight... yea.. that is not cool- but with right attitude, dedication and diet - you can lose it again.

I am on daily steroid. My situation is nothing like you, but even the small amount of daily cortisone makes me hungry and elevates my BS.. I also have insulin resistance.

what works for me is LCHF diet - low carbs - higher fat diet - moderate proteins.  Low carbs - it keeps my insulin rather low,  moderate proteins (and not too many at one time) -prevents my body using proteins and turning them into sugar, and the fat - well.. it taste good,.keeps my body happy and even on steroids - carbs my appetite..

I do need to remember to take extra magnesium and salts...

Good to see you too.

My first 50 pounds were pure prednisone. Very high doses after the transplant. I only take 5mg now and will for the rest of my life. I don't think it's enough for much hunger inducement. The gnawing awful feeling with high dose prednisone...yuk.

Your diet looks like mine was before transplant. I couldn't eat that much protein because of the kidney stuff.  Eating higher in fat didnot slow my weight loss at all.

I know I will lose weight again too. I don't have a number. I want a feeling. Mobility, energy, and to be smaller than my twin sister because I am shallow that way.

So glad to see you back.  You've been missed.  I'm sorry to read of the passing of your mom and sister.

I respect your attitude, especially given all that you've been through - that you did what you did to survive.

Hugs...

Thanks Cathy. I also joined your group. I'll look anywhere for support. I think if I shared my story on the RnY board it would scare the heck out of the new ones. Maybe I scare other people as well.

I'll be hanging around.

The good news is that I've lost 10 pounds since the last time I weighed. Down to 315. Gonna get under that 300 soon. That will feel nice.

Is is so good to see you again, Deb!!  I am truly sorry to hear about all of the various kinds of losses you are dealing with, though.  That is a tremendous amount of emotional upheaval and, as you said, sometimes it is just about making it through to the other side of the grief however you can.

We are still here for you!  Let us know how we can help.

A doctor..congratulations!

I"ve had loss but wonderful things as well. I got married (big ole church wedding), I have enough money even though I don't work, and my boy is growing into a cool man/boy.

I got to wake up today and see some many old friends on this post. Makes a girl happy.

You came back to the right place. I am so sorry for what you have been through. I can't imagine. You were very brave to come back here and share your story.

Thank you and best wishes to you.

Thank you. Not brave so much as just being sick of it. The mindless eating wasn't working anymore. I'm ready for my life to be lighter.

It takes a lot of courage to take charge and share.  Putting yourself out there and telling your story is brave. So many people you will inspire. You are going to kick ass.

Hi, Deb, I think I remember you from when I was first on OH investigating surgery about the time you had yours. Welcome back. I'm glad you are here and it sounds like you're taking steps needed.

A question - my brother in law is morbidly obese, in desperate need of surgery, and his kidneys are now having issues.

What sort of things did you need to do differently as a patient with renal issues? We're trying to help guide him and it would be helpful to know the sort of things that we need to be aware of.
